Nice hoppy aroma with hints of pine, and some grapefruits. A malty flavour that I like very much, with hints of caramel, some fruits. Medium bodied and well balanced, nice carbonation.

| 3.6 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 14/20 | Nov 26, 2009 22oz bottle. Pours a crystal clear, red-ruby colored body with an inch thick, slowly dissipating, creamy and frothy, beige head that leaves a good amount of lacing. Aroma is a nice caramel malt, toasted nut and toffee, and a firm earthy citrus. Solid and balanced smelling beer. Flavor is greeted with a slightly grainy, medium sweet caramel along with a toasty and nutty pale malt. A light to moderate earthy hop comes in along with some citrus, a toasty dough, and more nuts. Finishes dry with a light to moderate earthy bitterness and a medium length aftertaste of earth, nutty toast, and caramel. Medium body with a soft carbonation. Overall, an enjoyable red ale. Solid balance between the somewhat sweet caramels, toasty nut flavors, and earthy bitterness. This is nothing too extreme, but definitely an above average red. Another good one from Otto’s. | 3.1 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 4/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 12/20 | Nov 19, 2009 Bomber. Lovely dark ruby pour with a clingy beige head. Big, rounded crystal malt nose with a smooth, rounded hop edge. Light and lightly sour toffee. Taste is much of the same, light bitterness, faint citrus under the earthy overtones. Smooth, lightly tart body, as fun as Upland’s Rad Red. Quite a bit, actually, a nice hop-froward amber. JaBier (1261), Capital City, Ohio, USA

Nose of creamy caramel and lager yeast. Crisp and bitter hop flavor with a caramel malt balance. GAManiac (1186), Atlanta, Georgia, USA

Pours a deep, clear copper with a medium-sized creamy beige head that recedes very slowly to a thin collar leaving some spotty lacing.
The aroma is a mix of sweet caramel malts, fruit and some toasted bread. The fruit comes in the form of red apples and there are some earthy hops that come though faintly in the nose.
The taste is more of the same - very well balanced with light, sweet caramel and toasted biscuity malts forming a backbone for some light fruity accents and a bit of earthy hops in the finish.
Mouthfeel is extremely creamy with plenty of carbonation and a semi-sweet finish that sticks on the tongue after each sip.
This is an excellent example of an amber and pretty much textbook for the style. That said, there’s nothing especially interesting about this beer - it’s just a really solid, drinkable amber. BeerGestapo (740), Windsor, Pennsylvania, USA

Aroma of grains, malts and yeast. Taste much of the same with some caramel notes. Mouthfeel is watery and kind of dull. Not a big fan of the style !! Beerapprentice (130), Hopatcong, New Jersey, USA

Has a good aroma of caramel and nutty malts. Sweet spices and a touch of hops. Has a good taste, well blended. Good carbination and a good mouthfeel. Light bodied with a good finish. Has a nice texture between watery and creamy. A very easy drinking good beer. I will remember this one when I get back to Happy Valley.
