Commercial Description:
A dry stout brewed with Sumatra Mandeling coffee. This ale combines the smooth dryness of an Irish stout with the aroma and flavor of a bold coffee. This stout is nitro-poured for a delicious creamy taste.

A 5 seemed cheesy, so I am going with the 4.9. Even though the ratings don’t show it, I have probably tried over 1000 beers and this was the very best one I have ever had. Very strong coffee flavor and aroma are balanced perfectly with sweet and dry roasted malts. I could drink this stuff instead of water. I hope they bottle it someday...

Draft at KClinger’s. Pure black gold, nice resilient and foamy thick top. With just a light ashy aroma, this drinks creamy and smooth, mildly chocolatey. Not too much different than chocolate milk. Quite mild and enjoyable. (#3285, 1/10/2008)

Nitro @ Otto’s. Pours the color of oily coffee beans; no light coming through; huge, foamy chocolate-milk colored head with perfect retention and lacing that coats the glass; a beautiful pour. Dense, roasted coffee and chocolatey malts in the aroma; gorgeous coffee presence with a bit of cocoa powder. Huge amounts of well-roasted coffee in a medium-to-full mouthfeel: soft, creamy coffee grains and bitter chocolate; biscuity, chewy malts at the core; incredibly drinkable with a gorgeous coffee character. Lengthy finish showing coffee, milk chocolate, and dough.

very nice strong fine espresso aroma. vey fine dense yet slightly small, espresso like head. this brew has a more full and refined coffee flavor than any I have tried. finishes sweet nicely balancing the coffee and bitter start. finishes dry and bitter eriely like a fine espresso.

On nitro at the brewpub. Aroma is dense, sugared soft coffee rise. Not acidic or tannic, but softened cream and hazlenut butter, blended back with some barrel char and a light salt lick. Pours a black liquor, frothed with a long fading brown to tan soap. Flavor maintains coffee complexity and richness through a relatively light body. I think this is the most stunning aspect of this beer is the real intense flavor persisting over a soothingly drinkable palate that carries light sugars, bits of cocoa nibs, and sweetened tea. Not on the salty side of a dry stout, not tinged with sourness, but the real essence of coffee blasts through. Clean, vibrant, and fresh. I also love the finish and smack. The palate carries the freshest, most delectable moist chocolate-mint leaf gum to work off of the robust coffee presentation. It’s the most amazing coffee and stout with hop interaction I’ve tasted. Truly enjoyable. Fantastic.
