Commercial Description:
Framboise is a classic among the Belgian beers created by adding whole fresh raspberries (250 g/l)to a blend of young and old lambic. Framboise Oud Beersel is the missing link between beer and wine and is served chilled in flute glasses.

As soon as I started pouring I was struck by the raspberry jam aroma. It clued me in that this one wouldn’t be the sour lambic that I wanted but I can’t deny the appeal of such an aroma. The appearance was grand. All dark and stuff with one of those huge heads that makes a column in the middle and then collapses on himself. Alas, this is just a decently made but overly sweet raspberry soda lambic. I sort of like them but I don’t really find them satisfying. I can’t deny that there’s some good craftsmanship behind these things but whatever it’s boring.

Bottle shared by Shyam. Nose of tart raspberries, tannin, yeast, tart wheat. Color is a pretty ruby red. Flavor is all of the above with a sweetness that I didn’t think added much. Unified though and authentic.

Pours to a single layer of pale rose bubbles. Leaves almost no lace on the glass. Lots of clumpy yeast in the glass. The liquor is cloudy deep red--maybe closer to a muddy brown with a tint of red. Mild, crushed raspberry to the nose. Some metal smell to this which distracts. Classic Framboise flavors without an overly sour bite. This has a fresh raspberry flavor without extra sugar added. Nice body with a a higher level of carbonation. Great (mildly) sour aftertaste--like swallowing a unsweetened raspberry jam.

pours dark brown/reddish, thin white head. aroma, lost of raspberries to go around here. flavor, lots of raspberries and tartness, medium carbonation, fruits give a nice puree like mouthfeel. No fizzy stuff here, just pure raspberries. Beer is simple yet full of good fruit flavor. Tasty!

best before 01-25-09, aged 4 years. Pours a overcast dark ruby, with quite a few floaties. .. . pretty little head pool, lacing is decent .. . sweet fresh/overripe raspberrry, red sugar, hummingbird syrup aromas .. . quite a sweet fruit lambic, but i likes them that way! .. . pretty clean stuff, and a very refreshing yet refined mouth .. . i can tell you were to get a possum ... . great stuff that i need to try on tap.. . age seems to have been perfect.. . light light funk .. . phat!

375 ml bottle - reddish brown, clear with thin off-white head; just a delicious, raspberry pie bomb; soft, full bodied texture drinks crisp and sweet; love the nose and sour raspberry flavors; perhaps one dimensional, but it rocks that one dimension

Cage & corked bottle from Keg Liquor. Poured a hazy redddish brown color with an average frothy off-white head that mostly lasted with fair lacing. Moderate sour cherry and yeasty aroma. Medium body with a smooth texture and soft carbonation. Medium fruity sour flavor with a medium fruity sour finish of moderate duration. My expectations where met.
