Ungstrup (10824), Frederiksberg, Denmark May 12, 2008 Bottle - tasted blind. An amber beer with a thin beige head. The aroma has very strong notes of raspberries as well as hints of nuts. The flavor is very sweet - somewhat artificial, with notes of almonds and raspberries and hints of acidity from the berries, leading to a dry alcoholic and bitter finish. But inspite of the alcohol presence the body is medium. Thanks to Papsoe.
padrefan98 (556), (San Diego) Santee, California, USA Jun 20, 2008 On tap at Toronado in San Diego. Aromas of tart fruit with some sourness. Flavors of berries, tart pear. Beershine (1059), Miami Beach, Florida, USA Jun 17, 2008 Bottle, LeBon. Not much of a pop from cork. Deep cran-raspberry red, hazy. Fizzy white head. Fresh raspberry bouquet like pie filling. Unadulterated fruit. Enough tartness as it enters and slips down throat with big burst of pure fruit like eating a bowl of fresh berries. Slight tartness and slight seed-bitterness rounds out the fructose sweetness. Fairly thin and simple and lacking lambic character. AmEricanbrew (816), Left Coast, Louisiana, USA Jun 16, 2008 Fiery amber with a pink hued head. Big fresh raspberry aroma with a hint of barnyard and wood. Lively mouthfeel. Good tart raspberry and lemon flavors with a hint of wood. Has a mildly acidic finish. More fruit beer flavor here than Lambic. PilsnerPeter (1322), Flushing, New York, USA Jun 12, 2008 Tap at Spuyten Duyvil: Deep glowing/hazy ruby color with a dense light pink head. Nice looking. Fruity and fairly sweet aroma. Not much funk- more fresh character with some green apple skin, cranberry, raspberry and subtle citrus-rind background. Velvety texture, nice body. Flavor leans toward sweet and mildly tart. Not much funk at all. Very mild lactic tartness underneath the rich raspberry body- along with cranberry skins, almond and a subtle grapefruit-rind dryness in the finish, making it very drinkable. Very good for a sweeter and less funky Lambic. LilBeerDoctor (278), East Setauket, New York, USA Jun 11, 2008 On tap at Spuyten Duyvil Brett Fest. Pours a clear red with a light pink head. Aroma of raspberries, slightly medicinal. Flavor of sweet raspberries, not too sour. Similar to Lindemann’s Framboise. Easy drinking (a relief from all the super sour Cantillons) and quite good.
