| 3.4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 5/5 | 6/10 | 4/5 | 13/20 | Apr 9, 2009 375ml bottle thanks to a trade with Ding which was cool because this doesn’t seem to be available in Colorado. Really good appearance, the most substantial head I’ve seen on a gueuze to date. Hazy orange, cloudy, looks good. It smells like a hint of wheat and brettanomyces but no overt barnyard or sour-like smells. The taste is weird, pungent, putrid, not sour and not funky barnyard. The best way for me to describe the flavor is the smell I get from an old wheel-barrow that was filled with grass in the fall and then putrefied into a blackened swampy mess by spring. That may sound bad but its the only way I can think to describe it. Overall, this was probably my least favorite gueuze which is too bad considering that I really enjoyed their framboise and kriek.

| 3.9 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 16/20 | Apr 8, 2009 A great example of the style and a very traditional one, sour and wooden, crisp and refreshing. I like the soft feel of it, I’d recommend this to newcomers. screwball (802), Motala, Sweden

| 3.5 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 6/10 | 4/5 | 15/20 | Apr 4, 2009 Pours gold with a sizable head. Aroma has funk, green apple, and sourness. Flavor is surprisingly mellow, with pearly carbonation mouthfeel. There is acidity in the background, but it is largely surpassed by funk, herbs and soft fruit. Decent gueze, but not as acidic or dynamic as I had hoped. bvc (326), Kenmore, Washington, USA
| 3.5 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 14/20 | Apr 3, 2009 375ml bottle purchased at Whole Foods, corked and caged. Pours a oh so slightly hazy straw yellow with a white head that settles down to a nice thin foam halo around the edge of my glass. Nose is slightly vinegary tart and barnyard sourness. Hints of lemon, pepper, and floral notes as well. Carbonation is present, but light and tight. Very clean, crisp and dry palate. Slightly sweet and tart but very enjoyable. Not as tart as I was wishing for, but I still enjoyed it with my dinner. bleeng (600), Spring near Beersel, Texas, USA

Nose is very effervescent, peppery, grassy, tart-complicated and intense. Taste is also peppery, grassy, salt sea air, tart, champaignish. Complex and fun to drink. Well done. | 3.6 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 15/20 | Mar 31, 2009 March Houston Tasting. Thanks to bleeng. Pours a clear yellow with a bubble white head. Nose of fresh cut hay, menthol, eucalyptus, cedar box, pepper and some cigar box....lots going on in this little bottle. Flavor is clean with lemons and farmhouse flavors, not as layered as the nose. Dry, crisp and clean. Very interesting nose, but not as complex of a flavor.
