Commercial Description:
Geuze is a classic among the Belgian Ales, following spontaneous fermentation in wooden barrels (no yeast or sugar added), young and old Lambic are blended; which results in a dry, tart and fruity wine like taste. Oud Beersel Geuze Ale is the white sparkling wine of the ale world.

375 ml bottle from Systembolaget. Hazy golden/yellow color with a white head. Smells a bit of grass, citrus and stable. The flavour is sour with notes of gooseberries and grape. Very dry in the mouth, pretty nice mouthfeel actually. Not as sour as the other gueuze I had before (Cantillon) but still decent.

750 ml bottle @ Kallion Poirotti, Helsinki. Cloudy golden color, expansive white head. Slighty sour aroma of black currant leaves. Tangy sour flavor, with notes of lemon peel. High carbonation. Pretty good gueze.

Yellow with a high fragmented head. Surprisingly malty aroma, breadlike with notes of grass, sugar, grapes and yeast. The sourness is only secondary. The flavours begin sweet at the tip of the tongue but quickly expand into sourness, wood and acidity. Dry and delicious! Goint deeper into the beer I experience a variety of fruit flavours, ranging from green unripe apple to lemon. (A, s.1, e. 1)

Bottled 37.5cl. It pours a hazy golden beer with a decent head. The nose is wonderful with hints of candy, oak and grapes. Very lightly smoky. Woody. The taste is of candy, oak and grapes. Perfectly balanced. Flowery. A nice bite showing up with the swollow. Some herbal components appear after a few sips. Good lacework. Vinous. A hint of roquefort in the finish which is rather dry. Candy, vanilla and grapes showing up too. Terribly drinkable. Complex and sublime. Thanks a lot bov for this amazing beer.

12.7 fl oz / 375 ml corked and caged bottle purchased at Lukas Liquors in Kansas City, Missouri. Best before 20-04-2026 very lightly imprinted on the label, not entirely sure its 2026 - this makes it ~2 years old. Opens with a very loud pop. Pour is a gorgeous hazed yellow golden with a perfectly formed two inch all white head. A few lively, very fine, carbonation bubbles are seen working their way to the top of the tulip. Aroma is quite full, spicy barnyard yeastiness, lemon citrus, sharp bleu cheese funkiness and general wet dirt. There is also a smoky pepper something going on. Taste is initially the sharp acidic sourness, very much lemons. Immediately following the citric blast is the dirt and earthiness, which is quite drying. The finish is quite lasting, and is very much focused on the wet dirt. Though I get quite a bit of black pepper spiciness. As the palate adjusts, the citrus melds quite nicely into the full package, though the beer does lose some of its sharpness. Palate is dry, with nice carbonation. Quite complex and drinkable - not a combination you find too often.

hazy yellow pour with a nice thick head. Big funk aroma, some lemons, and some apples. Flavour is also unky, and sour, a good amount of sourness mingled with the lemon, and apple flavours. An odd horseradish aftertaste, other than that, a quality lambic.

(Belgium) Pours a hazy yellow color with a sm foamy white head with lots of carbonation. The aroma is of citrus, bread, pepper, and spices. The taste of citrus, green apples, lemons, and some baby funk !!!! The mouthfeel is very sour with a tart finish. This was very interesting, would like to try some others !! Beware, this lambic is not for everyone.
