Slightly floral with hints of lemon rind and mint as well. Pours a bright cloudy yellow with a nice white head. Only mildly tart and sour on the tongue. Slightly oxidized. A hint of wet hay. Mint. Old oak. Interesting but uninspired. Where’s the funk? DSG (1515), Tel Aviv, Israel

A rather clear golden color with a white head. Nice barnyard aroma. Sour citrusy flavor (lemon, some grapefruit). A bit bitter in the finish. Pleasant softly carbonated mouthfeel. A great Geuze. | 3.5 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 14/20 | Mar 31, 2008 Pours a lightly hazy golden amber with a fluffy, white head that diminishes to a thin cap; patchy lace. The aroma is of musty, funky, sour citrus up-front. It opens up as it airs out and as I swirl the glass, going from fairly muted to full-on tart and sour. Medium-bodied with creamy-soft carbonation transitioning to a tart, dry finish. The flavor more-or-less follows the nose with a mild vegetal note at the swallow. This being my first gueuze, it didn’t blow me away, but it’s interesting enough that I will explore others that I come across.

| 3.9 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 16/20 | Mar 31, 2008 Bottle. Thanks dchmela. Poured hazy pale gold into a flute with a large white head. My first lambic in a long time. I was half expecting an offensive funkiness, but instead I got a pleasant vinous, fruity, sour and slightly funky aroma. Nice. Very tart, crisp flavor. Apples, grapes, doughy yeast flavors as well. I’m pleasantly surprised by this refreshing beer. CapedBrewsader (261), Brasschaat, Belgium
| 3.9 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 16/20 | Mar 31, 2008 37.5cl. bottle: Poured a bright copper (unusual as this is normally hazy) with a very nice large off-white head. Citrus, green apple, hay, slight bleu cheese, and a moderate farmyard funk. A metallic twinge behind the rest. Sometimes a sharp lactic acid pops through. Flavors of dry grapeskin and appleskin with a tart and tannic bite. Perhaps bite is too strong of a word. Green apple juice with some hints of wood and a dash or white wine vinegar take you through to the smooth and light finish where a green note and some tin come in. Always a good geuze that walks on the milder side. Braudog (3773), Dayton, Ohio, USA
| 4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 16/20 | Mar 29, 2008 Courtesy of Diane and CJ (thanks guys!). I admit right out front that I’m not a big fan of gueuze. But I found this quite drinkable, which says something. Obviously it was starkly sour, fairly heavily sedimented with an orange body. | 3.9 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 5/5 | 15/20 | Mar 27, 2008 Typically sour gueuze aroma. Hazy golden color with a decent white head. Near medium body with creamy carbonation. Starts lacticly sour. Has funk and socks. Bit of grapefruit fibre. However, it is all very mild and relatively smooth. Not at all shocking. lassem (311), Copenhagen, Denmark
