First one was very funky so I complained and got a new one and a chat with one of their beer guys. The second one was better but very odd. Bit sad about it as I love the Oud Beersel Oude Kriek but... this is how it has to be.
Aroma is fresh but also farm-like, tarty and the acidity is evident from smell alone. The taste, however, has an unusual bitterness but very little tartness. Still feels somehow flat and soft...

Re-rate, 37,5cl bottle from Systembolaget October 6th, 2008:
Tart aroma with hints of bitterness and boiled sweets. Better than I seem to have found it last time.
Still quite thin on the palate and there’s an unusual bitterness to it that I don’t associate with Geuzes. Not unpleasant, mind you. Not particularly tart on the flavour and I think the hint of boiled sweets carries on with a bit of fruitiness.
Still probably least of the proper Geuzes I’ve had and at the price I’d rather get something else. Still nice to get that shot of Geuze I get all too seldom. Wim (1294), Turnhout, Belgium

Pours a mighty gold with a thin, bubbly white head. The smell is astringent and obviously young. I can tell already this bad boy needs some years in the cellar. Strong funk, not alot of brettyness though, super oaky, semi-fruity aroma. The taste is mouth puckeringly sour. Straight sour.. not acidic, yet not quite vinegary. Just sour. Super strong oak. Taste like a very young Gewürztraminer. Overall very tasty and traditional, super funky, loads of complexity, great body, just needs a few more years to develop into a masterpiece. | 3.9 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 16/20 | Jan 27, 2008 Golden color with a powerful oaky-sour aroma. The nose has apple, citrus, and assorted funky fruit. Flavor has a nice funky sourness to it that I find tasty, but not quite top notch. Mouthfeel benefits from the tanginess and I find it to be a pleasant meal companion.
