Commercial Description:
Geuze is a classic among the Belgian Ales, following spontaneous fermentation in wooden barrels (no yeast or sugar added), young and old Lambic are blended; which results in a dry, tart and fruity wine like taste. Oud Beersel Geuze Ale is the white sparkling wine of the ale world.

Tasted at Logan’s house with Logan and deftim13. Bottle from Logan. It’s been a long time since I had a gueuze, and I was really looking forward to trying this one. Barnyard, hay, funky awesome aroma. Light yellow color with a hint of amber. Small fluffy head. Flavor was mild, sourness was also mild. Very tasty.

First Geuze I ever had. I really liked it, lots of flavor... very refreshing. I’m going off memory here though so I’ll need to re-rate when I get another bottle.

who wants the funk? you got the funk... but not much else (EDIT- strike that ... nice tannins balance) someone through me in the dirty laundry and shoved me in the barn ... dry, soft not too bad... Update later that night... why serving size matters - the more i drink this the higher its rating goes, it just grows on me (tea???)

0.375 l bottle. Hazy golden color with long lasting head. Acidic and grapefruity aroma with vanilla and lemon. Acidic, grapefruity and lemony flavor with wild yeast bitterness and peachy fruitiness. Quite soft for a dry gueuze, pleasant and easy to drink.

Hazy golden with short lasting head. Mildly sour aroma with good complexity. Barnyard flavor with grapefruit and mildly sour. Not powerfull as Cantillon or 3 Fonteinen, but very drinkable.

11/7/07 From the bottle. Aroma is of tart banana, paintlike, with sour lacticacid , buttery, earthy and oaky. You couldn’t fit any more in here. Appearance is light hazy straw with a medium white head. Flavor is earthy, but still clean, with a tart finish. This is quite well balanced, but has a light nail polish note and low bittering. Mouthfeel is medium/light bodied, spritzy, dry and warm. Overall, very complex, not as earthy or dusty as I expected; quite well balanced for a sour.

Whoa Nellie...I can smell this stuff from several inches from the glass...who let the wet horse in the house!! Gold color, small head. Aroma of persimmon, lemon, pluots, straw, wheat, nectarine, peach, and barnyard funk. Significant carbonation...a mix of sweet, sour, dry and funky flavors...not as smooth as the Girardin but intriguing and tasty. My bottle says good till 2026!

Courtesy of Mcbackus. Pours a cloudy orange with white foamy head. Hints of sour fruits, spices, yeast, and more sour fruits. Finishes very tarty, but easy to drink. Very impressed with this style of brew.
