Commercial Description:
Geuze is a classic among the Belgian Ales, following spontaneous fermentation in wooden barrels (no yeast or sugar added), young and old Lambic are blended; which results in a dry, tart and fruity wine like taste. Oud Beersel Geuze Ale is the white sparkling wine of the ale world.

12 ounce bottle in a pint glass. Pours bright orange with slight chill haze and lasting white head. Tart aroma of orange fruitiness, barnyard and baseball glove. Complex flavors of fresh orange fruitiness, horseblanket, and tart dry finish. Medium-light body, medium-high carbonation. Maybe a little too cold, but absolutely delicious.

Pours a slightly hazy golden with a quickly dissappearing white head. Sweet and sour. Berries (hip). Quite high carbonation. Fresh and not too sour. Also unripe forest berries.

Bottle. Average fizzy white head that mostly diminished. Light cloudy golden color. Aroma of wood, leather, barnyard, vinegar, citrus. Medium bodied with a lively carbonation and dry texture. Balanced light to moderated acidic and sweet flavor. Dry and sour finish.

Rated 8/3/07. Bottle at Redlight Redlight. Courtesy boboski. Cloudy, yellow-gold body with the thinnest, faintest film of white micro-bubbles on the surface. Leaves behind a snake-like lacing. The aroma is a very dank, dusty, yeasty, farmhouse-like smell that is actually oddly appealing. The flavor has quite a bit of sour lemon, grapefruit, and sour apple. Its very reminiscent of a crisp Sauvignon Blanc. There is clearly alot of ascorbic acid in there, which undoubtedly accounts for the sourness. On the light side of medium bodied, with a clean, lip-smacking finish. Very nice for my first experience with geuze.

Corked bottle from Flaco Alto. Thanks! Pours clean, lively cheddar orange with a nice off-white head. Aroma is cozy barnyard with nutmeg and coriander in there as well. Slight bit of apple in the fragrance. Flavor is sour lemon and lime, with a touch of sour orange and apple. Very mouth puckering finish. Nice, clean mouthfeel. Great gueuze.

Cloudy golden with a big fluffy white head. Smooth aroma, lots of oak, citrus and funk... but still very clean. Medium body, sharp acidity. Smooth flavours of citrus... really hard to tell what I’m picking up in this beer, a problem I usually have rating Gueuze in general. Its just tart and ridiculously quaffable.

Bottle. Near orange coloured with a rocky white head. Aroma of yeast, grapefruit and honey. Plenty of acidity in the mouth with a flavour of bitter lemon and summer fruits. Very good, but not my favourite gueuze.

Bevuta a casa di Sergio che ce l’aveva in cantina: ottima gueuze (o meglio geuze?) però un poco più blanda di quella del Cantillon secondo me. Slurp
