Commercial Description:
Geuze is a classic among the Belgian Ales, following spontaneous fermentation in wooden barrels (no yeast or sugar added), young and old Lambic are blended; which results in a dry, tart and fruity wine like taste. Oud Beersel Geuze Ale is the white sparkling wine of the ale world.

12 oz bottle from mcbackus. Nice onion peal yellow that is clear and heavy looking. Minimal chunks at first but boy are there a lot in the bottom of the bottle. The aroma is slightly salty and heavy. Tart citrus peal and a funky mustiness are also present. The flavor is most certainly sour with under-ripe lemons and cherries. Notes of straw as well. Tart crisp finish that is also lightly bitter. I’m not a huge fan of this style but this was ok to taste. I’d never be able to get through a whole bottle though.

From 75 cL at Waregemse Bierhappening. Surprisingly faint aroma of dusty lemons. Lemony flavor is controlled, sour and citic-acidic, not aggressive. Lively mouthfeel and awesomely dry. Leaves the tongue parched and hankering for more. It does lack some complexity though.

Dry, sour, not as much as expected however. I just had Girardin Black recently and this is not as abrasively, in your face sour. Still, a bit more than I like. Good in small doses, and don’t let it warm up.

Dull orange with thick white head. Aroma is funky, fruity, sour, spicy, and grassy. Holy crap, is this thin and sour! Vinegar soda, I tell you! Avoid at all costs, particularly at the $5/12.z oz I paid.

Bottle. Hazy orange-yellow in color. No head but sudsy. Earthy musty, with paint thinner scent. Fruity, tart taste. Very sour in a harsh lingering way. Quite dry and quick finish . . . champagne like.

Hazy orange with off white head. Sour vinous vinegar & earthy aroma and taste. Little fruity note - apples. High acidicity/carbonation. Sour rather fresh taste. Dry bitter end. Very nice gueze!

My first of this type. Pours a hazy orange with no head. Aroma of citrus. Taste was sour with some fruitiness with heavy carbonation. This is the dryest beer I’ve had. You swallow it then feel like you’ve been sucking on a vacuum. No moisture left in your mouth. Interesting.

Bottle, 6%. Good sour aroma with a hint of mold. Hazy copper colour. Big stable white head. Good sourness in the flavour, lemony and sharp. Quite clean flavour with a hint of fruity sweetness. Ends on a very dry note, reminding me of aspartam. Slightly high carbonation.
