Commercial Description:
Geuze is a classic among the Belgian Ales, following spontaneous fermentation in wooden barrels (no yeast or sugar added), young and old Lambic are blended; which results in a dry, tart and fruity wine like taste. Oud Beersel Geuze Ale is the white sparkling wine of the ale world.

375ml bottle. Sour aroma, with oak, mahagony, lemon, black pepper, nuts, bacon. Outstanding complexity. Very nice pour for a lambic, with a tight foamy head that sticks around. Flavor is gentle sourness, kind of akin to a flemish sour or oud bruin but a bit more acidic. Oak and cherry shine here, with a touch of black pepper. Good palate, very drinkable, just a tad thin up front. Very nice gueuze, with a very soft body that is much different from their kriek, which I found to be intensely minerally.

12.7oz bottle. Poured a medium and hazy golden color with a large sized off white head. Aromas of barnyard, leather, sour fruits and yeast. Tastes of green apples, tart cherries, and all around brett. Nice pucker factor.

Bottled. Hazy golden colour, mediumsized white head. Sour fruits and yeast. Acidic footsweat along with sour fruits and acidicness. Flavour is quite the same, and is a very superdry thing. Some slight metallicness showing also, yet it is very wellbalanced. Hardcore thing.

Pours a slightly hazy golden. Aroma is a complex mixture of baryard, fruit, hay, and viniger. Flavor has a bit of fruitiness, acidity, cheese, and funkiness. All of which blend together quite well.

Thin offwhite head. Hazy yellow body with vigourous carbonation. Hoppy metallic wooden barnyard aroma. Dry-sour barnyard wooden grainy lemony taste with metallic peppery notes. Thin, sharpish mouthfeel. Dry lemony wooden aftertaste. A good one. (0.355l bottle from Ole R. Original rating from an old bottle bought in Cambridge. Rated a third time from wine monopoly.)

Slight hazy yellow/orange color with huge rocky head. Nice soft sourness and lot’s of acidity. Tatse of bitter lemon, grape fruit and vinegar. Might be best after 5-10 years...

Bottle from Uto. Golden with a thick foamy white head that is showing no signs of fading. Unusual for a geueze. Sweet, yeasty lemon lime nose with a light air of caramel and green apple. The effervescent head seems to rocket the aroma up your nostrils. Wow! Taste to match with a sharper tart edge and a hint of vinegar. Very dry, content finish. The fizzy texture tickles the tongue, making up for a slightly thin body. The head remains till the very end, leaving a nice lace. Jolly good stuff!
Re-rate - Newly branded bottle from Dranken Geers en route to the Kerstbier Fest. I had intended to drink this then and there as hair of the dog but, as it got mixed with all the others and we were on the way to DHVL, I ended up bringing it home instead. Amber with a lasting white head. Nose of vinegar and citrus fruits, grapefruit, lemon, lime, straw and caramel. Yeasty grapefruit flavour with some cheesy barnyard funk and candi sugar in the end. Quite tart at first but mellows out mid swallow. My first lambic in about a week which, as Mr. Harrison would say my friends, is an outrage! 8,4,8,4,17. Seems they’ve done well keeping up the tradition, good job fellas!

Bottle at home. Carbonated. Orangy color. Really sour nose. Sour flavour, as well. Citrusy, Orange, finish. Best by April, 2026. Classic. Think I drank this one too early... Tart flavour and finish, definitely.
