Commercial Description:
Geuze is a classic among the Belgian Ales, following spontaneous fermentation in wooden barrels (no yeast or sugar added), young and old Lambic are blended; which results in a dry, tart and fruity wine like taste. Oud Beersel Geuze Ale is the white sparkling wine of the ale world.

Bottle from Open All Hours, Keswick. Yellow orange colour, no head. Aroma of soft cheese, lemon, brett, barnyard. Less acidic than the Cantillons, possibly more balanced. Dry finish. Gorgeous.

Bottle: Sour and tart aromas as expected but there is also some fruitiness in the aroma too. Pours a mostly transparent orange with a small white head. Sour and tart from start to finish that continues to linger for a while. A very light woody flavor comes at the beginning as opposed to the finish like a lot of other guezes I’ve had. Definitely sour and tart, but not as extreme as other guezes.

From a 375ml corked bottle. Pours a hazy orangish-gold with a tiny white head. Smell is complex and I probably won’t do it justice - there’s tart and sour aromas, "barnyard" and yeasty, fruity aromas and lots more my limited sniffer can identify. Taste is very tart and sour but a bit subdued, not overpowering. "Barnyard" and salty flavors scorch down the middle of your tongue and linger on the palate. Not sweet but some fruity flavors evident, like light citrus or white grapes (muscat?). A bit thin but has a nice lingering sourness and dryness. Very drinkable for a "traditional" gueuze. A real treat.

Orange golden colour. Firm lasting head. The nose is an explosion of lime, grapefruit and tobacco. Tastes likewise with the lime really pushing through. On the palate the bitternes and the sourness joins together and punches at the you. This is aged lambic at the absolute top level. The aftertaste stays in the mouth for several minutes.

Cork comes off with a resounding pop and the beer pours slightly cloudy medium golden with an initially massive and eventually retained egg white head. Aroma is a cachophany of smells. Notes of vinegar, bubble gum, sweat, and myriad other aromas I am not able to identigy. Flavor is mostly sour, but also some sweet malt in the background. Flavor is wonderful but the very high acid content may hurt my stomach. Bit of horsey/barnyard type flavor in the finish. This is an exquisite drinking experience.

Golden and hazy colour, with an offwhite head. Hoppy, fruity aroma, with a nice sourness. Smooth tasting with a sour aftertaste.

Shared a bottle with Lubiere. Cloudy amber coloured beer with a small but lasting white head. Sour aroma, with notes of wood. Smells old but fresh. (!) Very nice sour taste, fruity like in cherries. Slightly bitter aftertaste, dry. Gueuze as it should be!

Hazy golden with big disapearing white head. Acicid aroma with notes of sourness. Soft and refreshing with nice acidic and sour aftertaste.
