| 3.7 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 16/20 | Jul 11, 2009 Pours a cloudy peach color with a thick bubbly white head. Strong and very interesting aroma of apples and cheese, it feels tart and musty. The flavor shows apples and cheese, it’s tart and acid with some mustyness. imdownthepub (5172), Banbury, Oxfordshire, England
| 3.6 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 15/20 | Jul 9, 2009 Bottled, 375ml cage & cork from Hopduvel Warehouse, Ghent. Burnished gold with white head. Naturally carbonated with a hoppy tart aroma. Initially quite vegetable in flavour, but then the tart, sourish notes come through, tart lemon, citron with a sharp cooking apple note, but this is all together in a very drinkable way, then there is a sweetness to round everything off, these are flavours I would normally avoid, but here it works. A pretty decent Geuze. BMan1113VR (2937), Los Angeles (and Dallas), Texas, USA
| 3.5 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 14/20 | Jul 8, 2009 Bottle marked as best before March 20th 2026...Guessing this is a 2006 bottle. SB47 on the cork. Pours with a large white head (unlike the Hanssen beers I have just had with no head) over a murky palish yellow body. Some lace too. Aroma is sweetish, with grapes, apple skins, must, cheese, wet hay and a touch of alcohol. Taste isn’t that sour, more funk next to the Hanssens. A bit of spoiled apple, green grapes, leather, light lime and urine. Not sour enough at all, not citrus tartness. Even a bit watery. Slightly dissapointed when tasting heads up with the Hanssens Oude Gueuze, which gives me great respect for that beer. Light cheese rind flavors and woody elements. Lively bubbles and a dry, albeit sadly, not puckering mouthfeel. Please hit me with some sourness!

Svakt syrlig. Syrlig & fruktig ettersmak. Uklar nedover i flaska. Litt sedimenter. KI=2. TILLEGG: Prøvde dette (5.12.09) som drikke til en litt syrlig fruktsalat: Veldig bra. 502Flavors (629), Louisville, Kentucky, USA
| 3.6 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 15/20 | Jun 29, 2009 375 ml bottle (Best By 20.04.2026) into snifter at cellar temp (55 F). Aggressive pop of the cork. Clear yellow/orange with a slight haze to it and a big crackling white head that holds pretty well but eventually fades to a ring without leaving much lace. Aroma is very typical gueuze - sour green apples and graped, oak, yeast, and a very slight hint of some funkiness. The flavor is good and very drinkable, though not super complex and a bit watery. Fresh white grapes, sour green apple, brett, and a bit of oak on the finish. Not the most complex gueuze, but very balanced. Not too sour at all (this is a young one I’m guessing, by the BB date). Medium to lite body with medium fine carbonation (not supercarbonated like many blended lambics) with a nice smoothness to the body. Overall: not my top gueuze but a good one to get beginners into the style. michael-pollack (2726), King of Prussia, Pennsylvania, USA
| 3.2 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 4/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 13/20 | Jun 28, 2009 375ml Bottle: Aroma of fruit, wood, vinegar, slight apple, a little sourness, and some barnyard. Poured orange in color with a small, loose, white head that lasted throughout. Cloudy. Very sparkling. Some particles throughout. Flavor is medium tart and lightly sweet. Tastes of wood, fruit, slight bubblegum, and a hint of smarties. Light to medium body. Dry texture. Lively carbonation. Slightly tart, slightly sweet finish is dry. 17thfloor (1504), Chicago, Illinois, USA
| 3.6 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 14/20 | Jun 25, 2009 375ml bottle best by 20.04.2026, so I take it about 2 years old in the bottle. Pours a glowing golden with a nice frothy foamy white head. Aroma of hard candy, whipped cream, airy, dried grass, just a touch sour. Flavor is quite mild, subtle hard candy sweetness, only slightly tart and sour, some rough grain and grassy notes are noticeable, mellow vanilla, cream, seems like a fairly young lambic. Medium bodied with a hard candy feel and softer uniform medium fluffy carbonation. Fairly dry but not like the best gueuzes. A great beer but not a great lambic... something just isn’t quite there.
