Commercial Description:
Geuze is a classic among the Belgian Ales, following spontaneous fermentation in wooden barrels (no yeast or sugar added), young and old Lambic are blended; which results in a dry, tart and fruity wine like taste. Oud Beersel Geuze Ale is the white sparkling wine of the ale world.

Thuis poured a cloudy yellow color with a big white head. Aroma was some tartness, a bit of sweetness and some funk. Flavor was midly sour, but not overwhelming, and mainly funky barnyard/mold flavor. Not bad, but a bit strtange

Bottled sample. Gold in colour with a bit of haze and medium carbonation. Slightly floral aroma, along with notes of barnyard, minerals, and a bit of oak. Very lightweight in the mouth, with notes of earth, mild lemon peel, and wood. Not very sour at all. with a somewhat salty finish. Pretty average overall.

375 ml bottle with champagne-cork, at home. Clear golden color, fine white head. Complex and vinous aroma of fruit, spices, sourness, citrus and vanilla oak. Flavor is sweet fruity with a discret and lovely sourness. Very fine carbonation makes it champagne-alike, but IMO better and more interesting than the champagnes I have tasted. Lovely with the right food.

Pours with enormous (4-finger) champagne white bubbly head with slight retention over a hazy gold liquid. Aroma of green grass and apples, stinging sourness and mixed citrus in the flavor. Comes across much more like champagne than beer!

A large head. An aroma of fruits and citrus. A fruity and sour taste. A citrus finish. Or more grapelike finish.A tad dry. I like this one, even if its more like wine than beer.
