| 3.8 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 3/5 | 15/20 | Jan 11, 2008 Wow....bottle best by 2025! The pour is a lightly cloudy, deep ruby color with a large, foamy pink head. Random, snake like lacing spreads out horizontally on the glass. This is really a nice looking brew, the only downfall being poor head retention and lackluster lacing. The aroma is powerfull, showing intensely sour cherries over funky barnyard lambic yeast. The flavor follows suit, with mouth puckering cherries and even some fresh lemon scorching the tongue with citric acid. Lightly sweet, yet amply funky yeasty flavors add an interesting element. Medium bodied and dry, with a long, tingling finish. Not overly complex, but incredibly well crafted. Awesome brew. DirtyMartini (194), Los Angeles, Alabama, USA

| 4.8 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 10/10 | 4/5 | 10/10 | 5/5 | 19/20 | Jan 1, 2008 Poured a deep ruby red color with a small white head with what looked like cherry chunks. Funky aroma with loads of tart cherries. Flavors are very tart cherries, huge barnyard funk, and a dry oaky finish. Everything about this beer was incredible. Side note: compared 2 vintages each from different brewers. Rated older version. rudolf (1784), Buffalo, New York, USA
| 3.8 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 17/20 | Jan 1, 2008 Bottle received as a bonus in homebrew swap - Thanks! Rich magenta, wisp of a white head. Nose is very tart cherries, oak and funk, lemons. Reminds me of the weekend of spontaneous fermentation. Flavor is lemon, cherries, oak, lots of acid, various fruits. Puckeringly dry. decaturstevo (2010), decatur, Tennessee, USA
| 3.8 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 16/20 | Jan 1, 2008 A deep cherry red almost purple pour. An aroma of just pure hard cherries. Very dry sour hard cherry flavor with a super sour finish with almost no sweet. Carbonation is a litte aggressive for me. Very fine offering. Miver (575), WillowStreet, Pennsylvania, USA
| 4.7 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 10/10 | 4/5 | 9/10 | 5/5 | 19/20 | Dec 30, 2007 Updated: Jan 1, 2008Bottles shared with Axilla. This rating is based on the Oud Beersel with the oval label. We also tried the Oud Beersel Kriek with a newer looking label, but it was not nearly as good. This one was just way too sweet and didn’t bring the funk. The one with the oval label poured deep red with a thin pinkish head. The pour contained some yeast chunks, or possibly some cherry bits. Aroma was very yeasty, barnyard, funk; love at first sniff. Taste was very tart with a nice underlying cherry tone. Body was nice, with a semi dry finish. Outstanding. AmazonMatt (285), Panama
| 4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 9/10 | 5/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 15/20 | Dec 30, 2007 Mmmm. I lovre that sour, barnyard aroma. Some serious funk in there, but with a great sour cherry backbone. Really dry, and a bit light in the mouthfeel, but with champane like effervescence. Not as good as Boon Kriek.
