| 3.5 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 16/20 | Dec 31, 2005 Light dusky fruit aroma. Ruby pour of cloud. Dry tart fruit flavor. Really shows more lambic qualities than fruit qualities, which I expected. Nice dry wildness and lambic notes, but doesn’t really dazzle me, with basic woodyness and not too much complexity. Tartness is sippable and holds a little wheaty warmness. Terminus (1955), Las Cruces, New Mexico, USA

Crisp, sour, and sweet all at once on the first taste. Cherry flavor comes out more as you go. Dry finish and a nice relaxing brew. ratman197 (3220), Arvada, Colorado, USA

| 4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 3/5 | 17/20 | Nov 27, 2005 Updated: Sep 15, 2007Ah, what a gorgeous way to familiarize myself with the sweeter side of beer. The Oude Kriek takes a cautious hand to what I call “dessert beers” by being more tart than sweet, and avoiding the terrible epithets of “soda” or “pop”. The cap of the Oude Kriek is a white foam marked by a slight pink tinge like a conch shell, and the delicious beverage underneath is the color of a watermelon’s core. Luscious sour apples, champagne and grapes all twist together to make this beer smell like a refined champagne, or even a Flemish Sour Ale. The beer performs a caustic tart melody on the tongue, and soothes the injured palate with lingering green apples and sour cherries. There’s also a watery quality to this Lambic, but the intense tartness keeps your salivary glands in high gear. Beware the drowning sensation, which is all the more disgusting since it is your own saliva flooding your palate. Off the subject of bodily fluids, I think this beer would be amazing to drink after a bout of good news. Imagine getting into a top-notch country club, or finding the woman (man) of your dreams, or absolutely crushing somebody in a hard fought video game, then pulling out the cork on a spring timey, refreshing Oude Kriek. Oh yes, that’s victory; the delicious taste of tart fruits. Quite the incentive for success. mds (2112), Toronto, Ontario, Canada

Best before 11.12.2022. the cork was pretty difficult to get out of this beast! pours a hazy reddish-brown colour with a small short-lasting white/pink head. aroma is full of earthiness, wheat, tart cherry juice, lemon, and a whole lot of musty funk in the background. mild spritzy carbonation. starts out with dirty earth flavours and leads into a puckering lemon tartness. bone dry and refreshing! excellent. bb (2919), Martinez, California, USA

Very flavorful, sweatsocks with a cherry/green apple finish. Tastes similar to Boston Beerworks Cherry Bomb in some ways. jzzbassman (846), New Albany, Mississippi, USA
| 3.6 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 15/20 | Nov 5, 2005 Maroon with fluffy pink head. Lots of cherry in the aroma, like a Shasta Black Cherry soda. Not as much on the flavor, which got progressively better as it warmed, by taking off the vinegar edge.
