On tap. Pours dark brown - close to black - with an orange hue and a creamy, nitro-like light brown head. Intense aroma of dried fruit and some hard roasted malt. Quite full-bodied, hard roasted malt and chocolate accents. Malt bitter finish with some alcohol present. Good and not overly burned Impy. 120709

On tap. The beer has a nice roasted malt, coffee/choco aroma offset by some light cream notes and raisins. A thick, creamy tan head tops the beer. Flavors consist mostly of roasted malt notes, chcolate, dark fruits and a light touch of toffee. Residual sweetness seems tamed, and the alcohol content also is very well hidden. Always a nice beer to go to.

Draft @ the brewpub. Pours a black color with a longlasting tan head. Has a roasted malty coffee aroma. Roasted malty coffee, chocolate and licorice flavor. Has a long roasted malty coffee finish with a long bitter aftertaste.

Poured from tap at the brewery an inky black with small creamy tan head. Flavor is a combination of bittersweet dark chocolate, powdery dark grains and coffee with a touch of dark fruit and oats. The palate starts powdery dry and finishes bitter sweet with some charcoal at the end. It is also thick, malty and smooth creamy. No detectable alcohol for a 10 percenter. Overall, a nice sipping, flavorful imp stout.

Tap @ brewpub: Inky black with a light brown head and sticky lacing. The aroma is overwhelmingly sweet, too sweet -- all alcohol. It has weird flavors of a mix of bitter coffee, fermaldahyde, urine and alcohol. This has the potential of being good, but yuck.
