Had the small glass of this and really enjoyed it. Jet black and thin tan head that laced the glass beautifully. Coffee comes thru loud and clear. Reminds me of Dark Lord...not as good, but at least you can get it! The don’t always have this one on tap, but is worth it if there.

Sampler at the Brew pub, 3/31/07. Nitro. Porus black with a light tan head. Teh aroma is big with notes of coffee and mlat. The taste is really quite nice with a rich sweet coffee and chocolate feeeling. This beer is the best of the buch for Pacific Coast, and its damn light for a 10% brew.

On tap in Oakland. Very dark black, creamy beer with cocoa and coffee flavors. Smooth and not strong alcohol. Not the most complex of the type I’ve had but very tasty, a great intro to the style for my wife. Very nice -- I wish I could have this more often.

This black beer poured with a nice tan head, eliciting a pleasant chocolate aroma. There is a stong taste of treacle that serves to mask the high alcohol content. This was a very tasty brew.

Draft. Blackish beer with a big beige nitro head. Thick rish chocolate flavor - cocoa, malt, touch of brown sugar, some rainy flavors. Sweet malt aroma. Nice mouthfeel - slightly creamy. Overall a bit syrupy and thick and a little too sweet, but it’s trying to add some complexity.

The alcohol is well-hidden in this beer. Surprisingly thin-bodied. Somewhat creamy. Strong roasted flavors, although a little one-dimensional.
