It was very malty and slightly sweet and carbonated, with a more bitter finish. bb (2905), Martinez, California, USA Sep 3, 2004 Draft. Amber beer with a big off-white head. Fruity aroma. Rich thick malt flavor with some fruitiness and oak. There’s adecent depth to it, and a certain smoothness. Nice old ale, though nothing really stands out - it’s just well done and nicely balanced. jazz88 (2235), San Francisco, California, USA Aug 10, 2002 Updated: Aug 21, 2004Rating #1 Tap (7 3 6 4 15). I had an aged Y2-Ale the day before I had this on tap. Maybe it was the age of the Y2-Ale or maybe it was just a higher quality brew, but this one does not compare to its brew mother. It was malty, dark, and had a fruit aroma. Rating #2 Tap (7 3 7 3 16). A hazy amber color with no head. High in alcohol with a rich full body. joet (1699), Fulton, California, USA Mar 5, 2002 Soft rounded feel, hoppy, sweet. hints of bubblegum. lightly effervescent. English hopping. A bit of pepper. Hoppy, slightly astringent finish.
