Styles (1653), Taylor, Michigan, USA Apr 24, 2005 Pours black with brown head. Aroma is decent for the style. Flavor was horrible, maybe infected, but just seemed very bland in general. 11026 (1886), USA Apr 9, 2005 Bottle courtesy of Styles. Black color with a brown head. Disturbingly well carbonated for an aged beer. Aroma is chocolate and a touch of coffee. Sinister notes of bandaid are also detected. Thin and watery. Flavors are off. Perhaps old, perhaps infected. Pailhead (2314), Allen Park, Michigan, USA Apr 3, 2005 Bottle: Smells very much like an imperial stout and very similar to Dark Horse Imperial Stout. Aromas of dark chocolate, black licorice, coffee, and light alcohol. Pours a dark brown, virtually black, with a tan head that lasts a minute or so. Has a watery, lightly smoked coffee flavor with some light chocolate and black coffee finish. Thin mouthfeel. Too bad it doesn’t taste as good as it smelled.
