jeffc666 (1821), Fairfax, Virginia, USA Jul 26, 2004 For a pepper beer this one is pretty good. Clear maber with a dense manilla head. Straight up jalapeno aroma. the flavor is not so over the top like some other pepper beers. The heat is just enought i be felt and the pepper flavor is not overdone. Slight burning of the palate. Not bad but it is still a pepper beer, More novelty than anything. argo0 (6233), Washington DC, USA Jul 26, 2004 Finally a pepper beer I like! Clear amber body with retentive off-white head. Aroma is medium sweet, jalapeno. Taste is medium sweet, jalapeno, light caramel. Very drinkable stylewise -- yes it’s pepper, but not overwhelming, just there to provide flavor. No attempt to blow you out of the water, only a mild burn in the swallow. Rated more to style, as this is the best chili beer I’ve ever had. Verne (261), Enumclaw, Washington, USA Jul 5, 2003 The wonderful smell of fresh Jalapenos in that regard this is very well crafted beer. But this baby is unpleasant and harsh and while this may well be as good a fresh pepper beer as can be make it’s just not good beer. Just give up on the idea and eat your peppers on the side. Try this beer if you must. BillKismet (1444), Seattle, Washington, USA Jun 17, 2003 Decent amber color--I could tell from the first sniff that this would exhibit better craftmanship than the godawful Cave Creek Chili beer. Though not listed in the commercial description, I sensed Green bell peppers in the aroma--reminding me of a nice bisque enjoyed in Port Angeles. Unfortunately, the flavor was rather harsh--not so bad as the aforementioned Cave Creek beer, but bad enough for me to pour most of it out. I suppose if I were to like pepper beer, I would like this one?? Crit (2242), New Westminster, British Columbia, Canada Jan 11, 2003 They have this every year at the Washington Summer Microbrew Festival in Kirkland. Be sure to try it at the end of the session because the hot pepper will destroy your palate for an hour or sr
