Commercial Description:
Our Farmhouse Ale™ is a light-colored and unfiltered Saison, which doesn't have quite the storied past of beer styles like bock or porter. Its humble birth occurred in the farmhouses of Wallonia, Belgium. Originally, this was a seasonal beer brewed to last through summer and into autumn. Farmhouse Ale™ is dry and refreshing with spicy, citrusy, earthy, and peppery notes. It has more hops than other Belgian styles, but is less hoppy than our Pagosa Pale Ale. Some have called Saison a cross between a Belgian Pale and a Belgian Wheat with a definite handcrafted touch. A beer with terroir!

Multiple samples, GABF 2007. Body is medium yellow. Aroma is lightly malty (toasted grain), with notes of soap, lemon juice, apple, and gum. Flavor is moderately sweet, lightly acidic, lightly bitter. Finish is lightly sweet, lightly acidic, lightly to moderately bitter. Light to medium body, watery texture, lively carbonation. Pretty sad...soapy and appley nose, too sweet. Not among the best at the fest.

Draught. Pours clear dark yellow with an average, frothy, white head, lasting with excellent lacing. Aroma is average malt (bread, straw, cereal), average hops (flowers, citrus), average yeast (barnyard, earth) with notes of banana and pepper. Light bodied, oily texture, soft carbonation, and an astringent finish; somewhat dry. Average duration, light sweetness, acidity, and bitterness.
