Commercial Description:
PALM Ale has long been one of Europe’s top-selling specialty beers. Made with English hops, French Barley, and Belgian yeast, PALM represents the best of European beer-making traditions. It’s the roasted Champagne Malt which gives PALM its amber color, but without being heavy. Also available bottle-conditioned as Palm Hergist.

Bottle. A clear, golden beer with a beige head. Quite weak on the nose, with a grainy maltyness dominating. Disappointingly weak flavor, malty, with some caramel. Sure easy to drink, but too boring. Medium body, and a slightly fruity finish with some malt. Lacks bitterness I think. I remembered this one to be much more interesting, but of course my palate have changed, and it’s not impossible that the beer have changed too. Still, it’s far from a bad beer, easy to drink, and quenching. (071215)

Pale golden color with a thin, lingering white head. Aroma was competely non-apparent, which had me wondering what to expect. Smooth crisp flavor and went down easy, but the finish was light and quite ho-hum. I think this would make for a pretty good post-exercise beer, but certain nothing ’Speciale’ from the folks at Palm on this one.

Draught at Waterfront. Poured into Ommegang chalice an attractive orange/amber color with a frothy white head, leaving striped lacing. It’s all downhill from there. Could not pick up any discernable aroma. Maybe some sweet breadiness as it warmed up. Bready flavors with some light caramel and a touch of butter, but terribly watery and diluted tasting. Not up to Belgian par.

330 ml bottle, courtesy of Cardinal Pub & Bar, Stavanger. ABV is 5.4%. Clear reddish amber colour, decent off-white head. Moderate aroma, some malts and caramel. The flavour has quite a bit of caramel with moderate hops, some grain and fruit. Hints of alcohol. Not too bad, but Palm Dobbel was more to my liking.

[871-20071130] 330mL (w/ jerc, tupalev). Smells like a skunk that has been soaking in a bathtub full of gin for a while. Clear, golden amber body with quick white bubbles. Grainy yeast flavour is a little skunky and vinegary. Medium body. Not pleasant.

Poured a reddish colour with minimal head. Alcohol and acid predominate with some hessian bag. Not bad but not great either.

Bit average yeah but not bad. Quite bland and not enough alcohol for my liking. Pale amber colour. Bottle from I forget where, I was drunk. Reasonable indeed but not special in my humble opinion.
