Commercial Description:
PALM Ale has long been one of Europe’s top-selling specialty beers. Made with English hops, French Barley, and Belgian yeast, PALM represents the best of European beer-making traditions. It’s the roasted Champagne Malt which gives PALM its amber color, but without being heavy. Also available bottle-conditioned as Palm Hergist.

Dark amber. Malty, sweet, hoppy. Smells and tastes like sweeter English ale with caramel malt and fresher palate.

3 June 2005 - (Hotel Montana) - Some complex earthy malt aromas. Clear brown-red-orange colour with good suds lacing. Sweet hop malt flavour although too simple (easy drinking).Thickish mouthfeel, but sweet malt hops die away quickly.

Had this on tap in Belgium. Very smooth flavor with nice hop character. Didn’t come on too strong. Nice floral notes and hop bitterness. Refreshing.

I’ve drunk both a recent and a two years over date bottle of this beer. The recent beer has a colour somewhere between chestnut brown and amber. It has a medium-sized white head. The aroma is floral hoppy, with raisins. Some earthy maltness could be noticed too. Some soap in the aroma, but not annoying. The flavour is dominantly bitter, but it has gentle sweet notes. The old beer has a more amber colour, and lots of particles are floating in the beer. Malt cognaccy aroma with hints of alcohol and apples. Apple flavour, but a bit watery. A stronger, both sweet and warming, aftertaste. The points given are for the new beer, the rating for the old beer is ar: 4, app: 1, fl: 3, pal: 3, overal: 5, total: 1.6.

Poured and clear amber with an average head. Not too complex and a bit on the sweet side, but very satisfying everyday beer.

Draught. Copper coloured, big foamy head. Cranberry aroma with hoppy hints. Hoppy malty flavour with weak hints of fruit. Pretty boring for being Belgian...
