Commercial Description:
PALM Ale has long been one of Europe’s top-selling specialty beers. Made with English hops, French Barley, and Belgian yeast, PALM represents the best of European beer-making traditions. It’s the roasted Champagne Malt which gives PALM its amber color, but without being heavy. Also available bottle-conditioned as Palm Hergist.

On Tap. Pours a deeper golden amber, slight medium white head. A mild aroma and flavor. No huge distinctive notes in palate or flavor.

I think this is what I had tonight...but I;m not really sure. Pour was medium amber with a nice head. Aroma is malty with little Belgian character. Flavor was mild and sweet, with not much else going on.

Two drafts with dinner yesterday at my local. This may be the softest all around ale I’ve ever had. Creamy white head settles convincingly to film. Some pleasant light skunkiness in the nose. First touch to the tounge reveals a light creamy body that is well tones and balanced. Someone in Belgium is still waving hops outside the brewery walls to slightly enhanse this balanced malty critter. I say it is under-rated at present. Finish is jsut as even and smooth. Thanks Rich for a nice selection for the rotating tap.

330ml Bottle: Aroma of lager yeast, malts, corn, and light grassiness. Poured amber in color with a medium-sized, creamy, white head that diminished but lasted throughout. Clear. Slightly sparkling. Fair lacing. Flavor is slightly sweet and lightly bitter. Tastes of caramel malts, yeast, slight caramel, and a little grass. Light body. Thinish, tingly, ever so slightly dry texture. Crisp. Average carbonation. Malt, caramel, and yeast finish is slightly dry and crisp.

11.2 oz bottle. Pretty amber pour with a nice white head. Nose is sweet caramel and some odd esters. Mild flavor, caramel and some bread. Kinda disappointing.

I think this is the type of Palm I had on tap. A nice pour, but the beer was a little disappointing. A watery dark brew with some sweetness. I also tried a bottle of something called Palm Belgian Amber. This was also a good looker, with a plush head and nice lacing on the glass. The flavor was acceptable. Mostly dry, with a little malty, molasses sweetness. Not bad, but I expect better from Belgium.

on tap at Dive 96. Clear amber with nice dense white head. Caramel sweet aroma. Little carbonation gave full feel on the tongue. Malty and toasty flavor. As an amber, didn’t expect more than basic drinkability.
