A fully-laden India Pale Ale… no. Cloudy amber with a thin white head, gone. Aroma of citrus, bread, ample and sweet malt. Looks and smells ok, but not much going on in the taste department. Over carbonated mish mash of malt and hops that ends up in a somewhat bitter finish dominated by hops lacking any real definable characteristics and some sweet malt to help balance it out. I wasn’t sure what argosy was, so I looked it up… a fleet of merchant ships. At least the beer had a redeeming educational property.

Bottle (12oz) shared with HogTownHarry & garthicus -- courtesy of swoopjones. Pours a hazy orange-copper with an average size somewhat-lasting frothy off-white head. Aroma has something odd about it, there’s Fuggles (I believe) but also diacytl or butter, grain and corn. Flavour’s sweet and buttery, if that makes sense, along with caramel and light spices -- an interesting taste but it would get old fast. Average bodied. It’s passable but it’s not something I would ever buy.

Bottle (12oz). Shared with blankboy and Garthicus, via Swoopjones. Murky orange-amber with a large lasting frothy off-white head. Dry aroma, made me think of oil paint, old wood and spoiled pudding. tasted like grassy caramel corn - but weirdly not in all that bad a way. Average body, well- to over-carbonated mouthfeel, and a massively unwelcome residue of cheap caramel in the aftertaste. IPA? No way!

I found this be a sort of IPA light. Nice and crisp and refreshing but nothing bold. A little low on hopness.

[1607-20080816] 12floz bottle. Sweet maple yeast and wet grains aroma. Slightly hazy, light brown orange body with a big long-lasting foamy off-white head. Hoppy sweet malty maple flavour. Medium body. Fair.

2008-08-16. Hazy orange body with a small off white head. Aroma of muddled hops, grainy caramel malt. Flavour has similar grainy character, light astringency, sweet citrus waves goodbye into the finish after it had barely arrived. (6+) Average palate. Meh. Bottle, Coles IPA Festival, Buffalo

Bottle @ Coles IPA tasting. Worst of the day. Bottle could be aged. Bought @ Sams in Chicago. Pours a murky, cloudy. Wierd aroma of plastic & very little malts & hops. Taste has some sweetness, tea. Overall poor

Bottle from Discount Liquor, Milwaukee. Really fluffy white head with lots of lacing on top of a clear, amber colored body. Really strange hop aroma, a little grassy and floral, but just strange in general, sweet malt breaks through the hop mess as well. Nice amount of bitterness, but once again the hop flavor is really strange grassy but wierd, it also doesn’t work with the sweet malt body and a little lemon, bleh. Medium, syrupy body. Wierd, just plain, wierd.
