Underwhelming pour -- hazy gold, but what little head there was disappeared almost instantly. Soapy-lemony aroma. Drinks with a light gristiness and a mellow lemon-citrus flavor. Very little body to it. (#3749, 11/22/2009) Tmoney99 (4767), Cincinnati, Ohio, USA

Poured a hazy amber orange color with an average fizzy white head that mostly lasted with fair lacing. Moderate sweet citrus and wheat aroma. Medium body with a sticky texture and lively carbonation. Medium sweet flavor with a medium sweet finish of moderate duration.
This also is an average drinkable brew. AlabastorJones (765), San Francisco, California, USA
| 3.6 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 15/20 | Aug 16, 2009 I thought this was a great example of a bavarian hefe, pale yellow color, wheaty nose with some mild banana character, subtle fruit flavors, dry and crisp finish, refreshing and soft on the palate jodah52 (60), Michigan, USA
| 2.8 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 4/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 2/5 | 12/20 | Jul 30, 2009 Interesting approach to a Hefeweizen. Pours gold with a somewhat short-lived head; has slightly vegetal aromas, along with an impression of hops and malt. The taste is far less sweet than most hefeweizens; it tastes almost weedy, but solid nonetheless. I think this is a pretty good beer to stir up the palate occasionally; wouldn’t drink it all night. | 3.2 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 13/20 | Jul 14, 2009 Bottle from CAH. Hazy gold pour with 1-finger white head. Nose is clovey spice, hopcitrus, pale malt. Tastes spicy and yeasty, floral, with cloves, hopcitrus, and pale malt. Decent complexity. Pailhead (2597), Allen Park, Michigan, USA
| 3.7 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 15/20 | Jun 10, 2009 Bottle: The aroma consists of banana, wheat, clove, and some faint citrus notes. It pours a cloudy dull orangish-yellow with a small, somewhat fizzy, white head that diminishes to a ring around the edges of the glass. The flavor starts with moderate banana along with some nice wheaty citrus notes. The finish is lightly spicy with some clove and pepper. Medium-bodied with lively, but somewhat soft, carbonation. I’m not getting any vegetal notes that many have been previously mentioned. This was a free sample bottle given to me in what I believe would be an attempt to break into the MI market...maybe it’s not the same beer everyone else is buying? I don’t know, but it sure seems solid enough to me. Obviously New Glarus is king when it comes to American-made Hefeweizens, but this is better than any other American bottled non-NG Hefe that I’ve had. In my opinion, if you like Hefeweizens, it’s definitely worth trying. Birdiebeagle (807), Perkasie, Pennsylvania, USA
