AlabastorJones (762), San Francisco, California, USA Aug 16, 2009 I thought this was a great example of a bavarian hefe, pale yellow color, wheaty nose with some mild banana character, subtle fruit flavors, dry and crisp finish, refreshing and soft on the palate jodah52 (47), Michigan, USA Jul 30, 2009 Interesting approach to a Hefeweizen. Pours gold with a somewhat short-lived head; has slightly vegetal aromas, along with an impression of hops and malt. The taste is far less sweet than most hefeweizens; it tastes almost weedy, but solid nonetheless. I think this is a pretty good beer to stir up the palate occasionally; wouldn’t drink it all night. DocLock (4648), Lower Pottsgrove, Pennsylvania, USA Jul 14, 2009 Bottle from CAH. Hazy gold pour with 1-finger white head. Nose is clovey spice, hopcitrus, pale malt. Tastes spicy and yeasty, floral, with cloves, hopcitrus, and pale malt. Decent complexity. Pailhead (2572), Allen Park, Michigan, USA Jun 10, 2009 Bottle: The aroma consists of banana, wheat, clove, and some faint citrus notes. It pours a cloudy dull orangish-yellow with a small, somewhat fizzy, white head that diminishes to a ring around the edges of the glass. The flavor starts with moderate banana along with some nice wheaty citrus notes. The finish is lightly spicy with some clove and pepper. Medium-bodied with lively, but somewhat soft, carbonation. I’m not getting any vegetal notes that many have been previously mentioned. This was a free sample bottle given to me in what I believe would be an attempt to break into the MI market...maybe it’s not the same beer everyone else is buying? I don’t know, but it sure seems solid enough to me. Obviously New Glarus is king when it comes to American-made Hefeweizens, but this is better than any other American bottled non-NG Hefe that I’ve had. In my opinion, if you like Hefeweizens, it’s definitely worth trying. Birdiebeagle (778), Perkasie, Pennsylvania, USA Jun 9, 2009 Bottle Pours a hazy yellow with a foamy white head. Real good lacing. Has a good sweet aroma of fruits, wheat, and citrus. Has a good carbonation and a swell mouthfeel. The flavor is sweet malts very tasty. The texture is syrupy. Has a light body. The finish is real good. A light aftertaste. This is a very refreshing beer. I would drink this all summer. michael-pollack (2604), King of Prussia, Pennsylvania, USA Jun 3, 2009 12oz. Bottle: Aroma of wheat, vegetables, and plastic. Poured yellow/flaxen/corn in color with a small white head that diminished but lasted around the edges. Cloudy. Very sparkling. Flavor is slightly sweet. Tastes of wheat, cloves, white pepper, slight yeast, and a hint of banana. Medium body. Tingly, very dry texture. Average to lively carbonation. Clove, wheat, and slight lemon finish is dry. Headbanger (1574), Aurora, Illinois, USA May 12, 2009 12oz bottle 5/12/09 (Binny’s Plainfield)-Pours a hazy cloudy orangish yellow with a huge loose white head. Aroma of sourness, wheat, citrus, and sweetness. Taste of tartness, banana, and slight clove. This light bodied Hefe is lacking in both aroma and taste. A pretty weak example of a Hefe and over carbonated. hopdog (5534), Lansdale, Pennsylvania, USA Jul 25, 2008 12oz bottle. Poured a medium and cloudy golden color with a small sized head. Aromas of wheat, some spices, and citrus. Tastes of wheat, citurs, bananas, and spices. Lively and fizzy body.
