Aroma was slightly hoppy, some citrus notes. Flavor was mediocre, it was somewhat hoppy but not enough for me. Quite a bit of malt flavor, which seemed unbalanced for an APA. Not terrible, but I wouldn’t try it again. meisterbrauMHB (53), Waukesha, Wisconsin, USA
| 3.3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 12/20 | Jul 20, 2008 This beer appears cloudy with malty/ hoppy aroma. I was expecting some bitterness, but that was absent. It has a nice, clean, somewhat fruity tart flavor that reminded me of grapefruit. Finishes well. Would try again. islay (477), Minneapolis, Minnesota, USA
| 3.3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 6/10 | 4/5 | 12/20 | Jun 22, 2008 12 oz. bottle, labeled “Svea Lilja’s Pulling Boat Pale Ale.” Aroma of honey, sweet cream, apricot, apple, butter, and pomegranate. Pours a hazy, effervescent dark gold with a small amount of beige head. Yeasty, hops-dominated, fruity taste. Cream, pear, apricot, melon, and red apple flavors. Crisp finish. Light to medium body. Lively on the palate. Refreshing. Pulling Boat Pale Ale is an interesting beer, and I had a tough time putting my finger on some of the flavors. It makes for a solid summer refresher. phishpond417 (1953), Madison, Wisconsin, USA
| 2.9 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 2/5 | 6/10 | 2/5 | 12/20 | May 12, 2008 This brew pours a light golden colour with a medium sized white head. aromas of faint pine and soft hops. A little unbalanced in my opinion, sweeter then normal for an APA. Skyview (4057), Papoose Jct., Minnesota, USA
| 2.4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 5/10 | 3/5 | 4/10 | 2/5 | 10/20 | May 6, 2008 Picked up a single 12-oz bottle from Three Cellars in St Francis, Wisconsin. Pours a hazy orange/amber brew with a thick and lumpy off-white head that has some thick retention and spotty lacing. Aroma of light caramel malt, some citrus zest, lemon juice, a touch of toffee and pear skin. Taste is medium bodied with more carbonation to fizz yer inners. Flavor of sour pear, some caramel malt, lemon zest and orange peel. Finish is slightly sour, fizzy with a distinct metallic aftertaste. RAYBOY01 (1851), Chicago, Illinois, USA
| 2.4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 5/10 | 3/5 | 5/10 | 2/5 | 9/20 | Feb 20, 2008 Fairly timid APA...light grapefruit citrusy notes on top of some boring pale malt sweetness. Not much in the way of carbonation or mouthfeell to excite. This one is not their best effort. hopdog (5606), Lansdale, Pennsylvania, USA
| 2.4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 5/10 | 3/5 | 5/10 | 2/5 | 9/20 | Feb 9, 2008 12oz bottle acquired in trade with CaptainCougar (thanks!). Poured a medium and lightly hazy orangish color with a large sized off white head. Heavy grainy aroma with some citrus and toasted caramel. Tastes of the same. Lively and over carbonated body. redlem (1155), Illinois, USA
| 3.4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 6/10 | 4/5 | 14/20 | Jan 26, 2008 Not sure why many reviews are calling this an IPA when the brewer makes both, although the labels are the same except for the bottom name. Pours a medium hazy oak color with a small head with small bubbles. Aroma is more English like with the english hops and caramel malts. Not too sweet and very drinkable. Reminds me obviiously of Sand Creeks English Special beer.
