Panil Barriquée (Mild)

Dusty aroma of grapes. Cloudy amber pour with floaties and a thin white head. The flavor consists mostly of grapes. The body is light to medium with a dusty mouthfeel. While not being bad this feels like a poor man’s version of Panil Barriquée.

A hazy deep red beer, which pours with a huge brown head. The aroma is sour with notes of wood, vinegar, berries, and brown sugar. The flavor is both sweet and sour - the acidit running along the sides of the tongue. The flavor has notes of sour grapes, berries, wood, and metal. It starts out with the more fruity notes, but then they fade away to make room for the woody and metallic notes, which in turn gives it a very dry finish.

Quickly fading to nothing head covers a cloudy brownish orange body. Rather dry dusty character emerges from the nose. Raspberry bushes, branches with concrete and dullish jammy aspects betray a heavy yeastiness. Light cherries and faint orange juice procure a rather juicy feel, but it’s extremely dusty all the same. Light bodied, restrained fruitiness. Poorer than expected.

Any first impressions?
-A scant ring of foam decorates the discolored yeast universe.
-Dusty red grapes and bubblegum disapppoint, compared to the classy, confident Sour version.
-Leafy dryness and yeasty irregularities form a stale flavor spectrum.
-Large bubbles seem to thin out the body.

What if you dig deeper?
-The fruitiness isn’t as clearly defined as the Sour’s.
-Sourness is tame, and practically non- existant.
-The dusty dryness screeches in the back.
-I don’t care what they say, the end result here is entirely different from the Sour version’s, and even when I take it as a unique entity, I still don’t appreciate it.

The best Italian beer I’ve tasted - at the Highlander, Parma. Large rocky head, a complex beer with lots of nuances. Malt and dried fruit, a Belgian sourness in the aftertaste. Rerating November 06: Excactly the same score. Low carbonation.

Good beer, with one particular fermentation.Nut brown, light brown head; aroma is fruity with raisins.

Super-Santa Jonas - you are the greatest for sending this one on my wishlist!!!! Murky brown color, big long lasting frothy head that leaves nice laces on the glass. Huge koriander, mustard seed and fenugreek nose with cherry and yeast. Yeasty cherry taste - light sourness, medium dry with some malty notes in the finish. A bit thin bodied. But still a nice and classy brew!

Huge nose - cherry aromas, yeast - yum. Murky brown color, with a cream clingy head. Soft cookie-like malt, with hints of toffee and a light vinegar tinge. Sourish end. Medium body. Just a high quality beer. Sophisticated. Not too aggressive, but great balance.
