Hazy amber, moderate bubbly white head. Lightly sour aroma, muted malt and very muted funk. Lightly sour flavour is a bit refreshing, but mild malt middle is overshadowed. Pleasant but underwhelming. Average palate, pleasantly effervescent. 7/3+/6/3/13

Amber colour with a nice large head. Aroma of woody cherry tart. Slightly boozy on the nose as it warms. Sour and fruity but not near the complexity or punch of the regular version.

Hazy amber color, big frothy white head. The memorable nose, bring notes of nutmeg, green apples, chocolate, oak. The sour mouth follows through with this interesting melody of flavors, green apples, cherries, nutmeg, break, oak. The finish is dry and leaves a gritty feeling like nutmeg was actually in the beer and is left on your teeth. Interesting.

Murky amber with a foamy head and lace. Nose is tart and filled with alcohol. Spicy and nose tickling sour. Fruity with some notes of yeast. Mild finish.

Bottle provided by boutip. Pours lightly cloudy and hazy orange with a huge growing off-white rocky head, lasting with excellent lacing. Aroma is heavy malt (bread, straw, cereal), average hops (herbs, grass, orange), average yeast (dough, musty) with notes of grape, apple and pear. Average duration, heavy sweetness, moderate acidity and bitterness. Much less sour than the regular sour. Medium bodied, creamy texture, lively carbonation.

Good yellow head; hazy orange-yellow beer. Sourish nose, very lactic, near Brett-nose, gueuze-like. Light lactic acidity, less than the nose suggests, with lemon, lemonrind, sucade (without the sweetness) flavours. Surprisingly light body, with acidburn, and despite the acidity a bit creamy texture. Quite good, even if not as extraordinary as the US version.

Cloudy dark blonde body, medium off-white head with good lacing and medium retention. Aroma is surprisingly wild/funky, almost kriekish with woody hops. Body has a nice feeling, foamy mouthfeel, very yeasty and with a ton of tickling little bubbles, feels very alive. The malt has a very dry pale wood flavour that makes me think of roasted pistachios with their shells and everything. There is some sourness and acidity but it is as much red apples sourness/acidity as it is the oak and cherries type of sourness/acidity like I expect coming from a Flemish Sour. That combined with its funky character makes this beer like a cross between a Flemish Sour and a Kriek. Alcohol is a bit more present than it should have been. A very good beer that can stand on its own and would be better appreciated if it didn’t bare the same name as the better known American version. The two are so different that comparing the two is like comparing apples and wrist watches.

Huge offwhite creamy lasting head with a couple of big bubbles. Hazy dark orange, brownish body with lots of carbonation. Soft, woody, bready aroma with milky notes. Taste is sharpish (but not really sharp) wood with metallic raspberry and oak background. Dry aftertaste. Quite good. (0.75l bottle.)
