(500ml bottle) Pours a lasting almond-coloured foamy head with a clear, sediment-filled, lightly carbonated copper body. Nose of wet tobacco, smoked malt, bubblegum, perfume and cold coffee. Flavour of sweet malt, corn syrup and figs. A very decent mouthfeel. Good recipe! (Bieropholie Private Imports)

Bottle (500ml). Via trade with Boutip. Clear bright deep burnt copper with an average fizzy-foamy lasting light tan head. Mild brown sugar and sweet spice aroma with raisins, yeast and gold shred marmalade - very sweet indeed. Taste is very sweet, less yeast and fruit, more sugary malt and soft sweet spice - quick, candyish finish. Watery but very lively mouthfeel, with some bitter/herbal and alcoholic character in the finish to ameliorate the sweetness some. Not bad.

Dates, brown sugar, nuts, figs, apples, raisins and a touch of alcohol greet the nose. Clear, deep brown coloured body is topped by a decent, fizzy but lasting, fine bubbled, beige-tan head. Chocolate and nuts are the first notable flavours along with plenty of residual sugar. This is a very sweet beer. Yeastiness in the aftertaste along with jammy dark fruits and herbal and minty notes. Medium body with engaging carbonation. Snifter. Cellar temperature. Bottle (BB May-07, Bièropholie, Oct-06).

Hazy brown hue, with a frothy beige head, yeasty and fruity nose of blackcherries, raisins, prunes, ripe apples, with a caramel and toasted malt note, nice spicy cinnamon and nutmeg accents, within a chocolatey aroma follows through on a medium-bodied palate with a sweet yeasty pruney, chocolatey character, with a hint of black pepper, and a cinnamon, nutmeg spiciness, with some toasted malts, a plumey and raisiny fruitiness, leading towards a dry fruity mild coffee roastiness finish.

Bottle: Poured a cloudy deep brown color beer with a big foamy head with better then average retention. Aroma of candi sugar and dry plums/figs is really nice. Taste of sweet malt with some nice dry plums/figs characteristics. Body is slightly thin for the style but alcohol is well hidden. Very nice effort from this brewery and part for being a bit too sweet I was well impressed with that one.

Bottle shared with Phil_l. Reddish brown colour with slight sour aroma. Like a wooden box that has contained fresh apples, 3 hours after you’ve taken the fruit out. Bit of red cherry. Lovely aroma, smooth in mouth. Then lovely balanced finish of malt cherry and sourness, perfect balance. Bit of boiled sweet. Bottled 02/05, consume within 24 months. Well balanced beer, great finish.
