Cloudty pale yellow with a huge foamy white head. Good retention and average lacing This one poured out of the bottled as soon as it was opened. Aroma is very corny with malt and as stated by Boutip, fruit esters. Flavor was very similar to the aroma with a lot of corn, weird esters, some fruits and a slight touch of hops. Full body. Seeing other reviews, I would be curious to try another bottle. Boutip (2332), Gatineau, Quebec, Canada Jun 10, 2009 Bottle: Poured a cloudy pale beige color ale with a super large foamy head with good retention and some lacing. Aroma of corn is pretty heavy with some weird ester. Taste is also reminiscent of corn though I would guess no actual corn was used with some weird ester and a fruity finish. Body was full with good carbonation and no signs of alcohol. This one is very hard to categorize and while the taste is very different then most beers I know I am not sure I would venture to drink this very often. MartinT (5026), Montreal, Quebec, Canada Apr 11, 2009 My Bottom Line:
This fluffy Belgian-style Strong Ale seduces with its starfruit citrus, bready yeast and comfortably effervescent mouthfeel, creating a marvelously classy sipper.
Further Personal Perceptions:
-A thick sheet of foam paints fine lacing atop the cloudy beige blond.
-The superbly integrated fruitiness is also reminiscent of gooseberries and apple skins.
-Alcohol is really not apparent.
-The flavor profile is perfectly balanced and the finish nicely dry.
-A little more cereal character and this would be world-class, imho.
-The hop personality is not as outgoing in the flavor profile as it is in the aroma.
Bottle. oh6gdx (8795), Vasa, Finland Jan 14, 2009 Bottled (thanks omhper!). Hazy golden colour, small white head. Aroma is sour fruits, hops, some malts and also some wooden notes. Flavour is hops, malts, caramel and quite strong acidic/tart/sour fruits. As it warms up some alcohol, earth and also yeasty notes also become present. Flavor:this beer taste the same tink than the fin du monde from unibroue.... Marsiblursi (1629), Göteborg, Sweden Nov 2, 2008 (Bottle, 1 year old) Pours hazy, glowing golden with medium white head. The aroma has a nice white wine and honey-like fruitiness of sweet pears, sticky pineapples, tart apricots, oranges, green apples and lemons - from sweet to sour. Some candi sugar is also notable. Bit woody. The nose is fresh grassy, spicy and floral/ nectar-ish with some dusty, moldy, doughy and barnyardy yeast in the background. The malt profile has a slim cracker, hay and caramelly sting. A touch of phenols is also present. An yes, it is a bit alcohol-ish. The flavour is dryish with tones of wood, dust, bandage, citrus, (lemon and bitter oranges), green apples and grassy/spicy hops. Light sweet/rater dry. LIght to medium bitter. The mouthfeel is light tart, clean and soft/creamy carbonated. Medium bodied.
