Small white head. Golden coloured and slightly hazy in appearance. Strong in alcohol with a banana fruit flavour. Crisp and dry wheaty finish. JohnnyJ (1283), Carlsbad, California, USA Jan 23, 2009 On tap at the Strong Ale Fest 08. Pours an orange amber color. Fruit and sweet malt. Notes of honey and citrus and some wheat coming through. It’s okay, but not very complex. BOLTZ7555 (1053), Phoenix, Arizona, USA Jan 4, 2009 On tap at Papago. Really interesting beer here...dark honey colored beer with just a smal white ring for a head. Extremely fruity, both in aroma and in taste. Flavor is sticky sweet Welch’s grape juice, Macintosh apple, and wheat. Almost syrupy...could pour this on pancakes...you wouldn’t even know it’s alcohol. Tasty but would want this to be a rare treat. cbkschubert (1945), Cochise Co., Arizona, USA Dec 28, 2008 On tap at Papago - Pours a slightly hazy golden color with a thin off white head. Light lacing. Aroma is estery and vinous. Flavor is esters, apple, and vinous. Palate is dry. Light to medium body. A good beer. ajm (903), Los Angeles, California, USA Dec 11, 2008 Tap at Pap. Couldnt believe this was a barleywine. Almost dead-on apple juice effect, right down to the aftertaste. That this is nearly ten percent makes this a work of art. WeeHeavySD (2941), San Diego (Hillcrest), California, USA Dec 8, 2008 Tap at Strong Ale 2008. Pours orange with a tan ring. Nose is slightly sweet. Taste is sweet, ok, and the wheat comes through nicely. hopdog (5527), Lansdale, Pennsylvania, USA Dec 7, 2008 On tap at the 2008 Strong Ale Festival. Poured a deeper and cloudy golden-amber color with a very small sized off white head. Aromas of floralness, wheaty, and toasty. Tastes of the same floralness, wheat, toast, and I was getting a very light citrus. Avengedpoet (325), Mesa, Arizona, USA Sep 28, 2008 Thanks to Rustychiles for sharing the growler. Pours very cloudy from the wheat, a nice ruddy orange hue. Aroma was quite inscrutable. Almost reminiscent of a belgian ale in some regards - lots of fruity phenolic smells. Taste is extremely smooth, no hop bitterness to speak of. Pronounced wheat and fruity flavors. Very nice, very enjoyable. Hides the alcohol like a champ; I couldn’t taste it at all.
