Aroma is roasted malt, coconut, light coffee, and chocolate. Flavor is much of the same. Finish is dry and roasty. Mouthfeel is soft and smooth. Medium body. A good tasting sweet stout. BOLTZ7555 (1053), Phoenix, Arizona, USA Sep 5, 2009 On tap @ Papago. Really enjoyed this one. Dark Hershey syrup pour produced a 2 finger caramel colored head that left a bi of lacing. Aroma is coconut milk, cocoa, roasted malt, and coffee bean. Flavor also exhibits chocolate, vanilla, coconut, and roasted malt sweetness. Nice creamy mouthfeel. Pretty solid. danielcurtis81 (868), San Diego, California, USA Aug 24, 2009 Tap at Stone 13th Anniversary Celebration. Pours a nice brown black with a small off white head. Nose is full of coconut flavored coffee. Flavors follow, Dunkin Donuts coconut coffee. Nice roasted malts. Great beer! JohnnyJ (1282), Carlsbad, California, USA Aug 23, 2009 On tap and stone 13th fest. Nice stout. Coconut and coffee sweet stout, both flavors were evident and worked well together. Dark brown pour, creamy light tan head. Sweet malt, roasted cold coffee, coconut, vanilla, and cocoa. Creamy mouthfeel. Sparky27 (1559), Phoenix, Arizona, USA Jun 20, 2009 On tap at the Draft Magazine PBS Beer Festival. Pours deep reddish brown with a thin tan head. The nose is roasted coffee and light toasted coconut. The taste is coffee, roasted malt and a weird artificial coconut flavor in the finish. Fairly flat mouthfeel. Not very good – I had high hopes for this one and it didn’t live up to it. bigbeersrule (58), USA May 16, 2009 Very interesting beer, they added Coconut to their Elsies Irish Cream and came up with a coconut cream coffee beer. Aroma of coconuts and espresso coffee. Flavor was that of coffee, coconuts and cream, a lot going on in it but the flavors all came together well. Color was black and opaque. A little sweet but that halps make it extremely drinkable. nbutler11 (727), Phoenix, Arizona, USA May 12, 2009 Pours a roasted black color with a ruby tint around the edges and a cappucino head. Smells of coffee grounds -- no doubt. Tastes predominantly of coffee and bakers cocoa. The Elsie’s seems to dominate the Coconut Porter to the point that it subdues it into more of a vanilla sort of flavor. Not bad, but certainly on the sweet side and fairly one-note.
