Oakes (8057), gone rambling, Vietnam Feb 18, 2009 Dark brown. Chocolate aroma with some light beans (coffee). Chocolatey, full on fudgey character. Very light coffee accents in there as well. Smooth. Pretty tasty. Beershine (2678), Hue, Vietnam Feb 15, 2009 Sample from growler shared by dchmela @ Redlight. Pitch black with tan head and lacing. Some diacetyl is sitting on top of a nice coffee aroma. Oodlies of coffee and roasted malt with a nice creaminess. Excellent brew. bconley (351), Fern Park, Florida, USA Feb 11, 2009 Growler, thanks dave. Very nice chocolate smell. Very dark. This was really tastey. Coffee hints are very nice. Roasty. Hope to have again. juiceisloose (640), Windermere, Florida, USA Jan 31, 2009 Growler, courtesy dchmela. Pours a dark black color almost opaque with a small tan colored head that leaves a little lacing behind. The aroma shows a good amount of chocolate with both milk and bittersweet present. A good amount of roast with toasted caramel and molasses as well. The flavor is very chocolatey with the roast and some bitterness on the backend to smooth out the sweetness. Full bodied and a very creamy mouthfeel with a nice long, dry roasty finish. This is a very tasty and really nice porter. dchmela (1406), Orlando, Florida, USA Jan 21, 2009 Growler from my Secret Santa, Hellbilly. Pour a deep thick black with a dark tan head and some nice oily lacing. Aroma has lots of coffee bitterness, chocolate malt and roasted grain. Big bitter coffee, chocolate malt taste with a great slightly thick body. Finishes with a smooth roasty bitterness. This is a great beer and exactly what I like in a porter. cmillward (419), Orlando, Florida, USA Jan 19, 2009 Growler, courtesy of dchmela. Very tasty. Pours a deep black, some thin tan head turns to bubbles around the edge. Nose redolent with chocolate, some molasses and coffee, quite roasty. Smooth, with rum-like notes of molasses, more roasty chocolate and some coffee. Some bitterness lingers in the background. Nice body, dry roasty finish on the tail of the restrained sweetness. A big porter, quite good indeed! Thanks Dave.
