Growler from my Secret Santa, Hellbilly. Pour a deep thick black with a dark tan head and some nice oily lacing. Aroma has lots of coffee bitterness, chocolate malt and roasted grain. Big bitter coffee, chocolate malt taste with a great slightly thick body. Finishes with a smooth roasty bitterness. This is a great beer and exactly what I like in a porter.

Growler, courtesy of dchmela. Very tasty. Pours a deep black, some thin tan head turns to bubbles around the edge. Nose redolent with chocolate, some molasses and coffee, quite roasty. Smooth, with rum-like notes of molasses, more roasty chocolate and some coffee. Some bitterness lingers in the background. Nice body, dry roasty finish on the tail of the restrained sweetness. A big porter, quite good indeed! Thanks Dave.

Growler, courtesy dchmela. Pours pitch black and opaque, as menacing in appearance as any porter you’ll encounter. A tight, mocha colored head leaves some lines of sticky lacing on the glass. The nose is really chocolaty, bittersweet dark and silky milk varieties both detectable. Tons of roast and scorched caramel come through as well, along with hints of hazelnut. Flavors are again very chocolaty and roasty, with substantial earthy bitterness countering the choco-caramel sweetness. Coffee and nuts make for a tasty, lingering finish. Substantial and creamy on the palate, the mouthfeel is a perfect complement to this brew. This is great stuff.

Growler poor from dchmela, thanks for sharing this kickass porter. Pours black, mollasses and a ton of roasted coffee, some chocolate in the nose. Taste is sweet up front with some slight cherry, big roasted coffee finish. This is a really fine porter, and in many ways bears a resemblance to an imperial stout, but the body isn’t quite as heavy.

Growler pour from dchmela...damn find porter!! Black pour. Aroma is sweet and strong with molasses, coffee, chocolate. Smells like an imperial stout. Damn if it doesnt taste like one too. Chocolate, molasses and dark dried fruit. This is a super porter. I feel very fortunate to have tried this one. Goddamn the Orlando crew rocks ass.

Shared by dchmela at Redlight Redlight. Thanks Dave! Very roasty aroma of coffee and nuts. Flavor was a bit like sweet burnt toast and chocolate. A bit thin but very drinkable!

Courtesy dchmela. Pours opaque black with a smallish light brown head. Smells pretty roasty, lots of burnt malt and chocolate in there. Pretty heavy on the chocolate actually. Definitely more stout-like than a porter. Had some pretty nice body to it, lots of the chocolate flavors come through in the taste as well. Not too much of an alcohol burn left on the palate. I didnt think it was awesome, but certainly a solid brew.

On tap at Papago 1/12/09. Black with a small brown head. Tastes of coffee, burnt malts and chocolate-more like a stout than a porter. Mouth is full but leaves a bit thin. Alcohol seems minimal for a 7.5 beer. Overall not bad.
