Smells pretty roasty, lots of burnt malt and chocolate in there. Pretty heavy on the chocolate actually. Definitely more stout-like than a porter. Had some pretty nice body to it, lots of the chocolate flavors come through in the taste as well. Not too much of an alcohol burn left on the palate. I didnt think it was awesome, but certainly a solid brew. bleeng (600), Spring near Beersel, Texas, USA

Tastes of coffee, burnt malts and chocolate-more like a stout than a porter. Mouth is full but leaves a bit thin. Alcohol seems minimal for a 7.5 beer. Overall not bad. | 3.7 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 15/20 | Jan 4, 2009 On tap at Papago. Darkest latte colored head sits above a black hole colored body. This one wasn’t nearly as fragrant as Elsie’s Irish Coffee Milk Stout but was still enjoyable and displayed similar qualities; dark roasted malt, java, and cocoa. Flavor was extremely ashy, definitely exhibiting a campfire quality. Medium mouthfeel and tasty. Pretty good beer. Sparky27 (1608), Phoenix, Arizona, USA

Nose is roasted caramel malt and coffee. Taste is burnt malt, ashy bakers chocolate and coffee with a light hop finish. Medium creamy mouth feel. Very good porter. nbutler11 (771), Phoenix, Arizona, USA

Pours a deep cocoa brown color with a huge creamy brown head that lasts throughout and sticks to everything. Aroma of dark roasted malt and grain, espresso, bittersweet chocolate and caramel. Flavor is rich, roasty, and chocolaty as well. Creamy on the palate. This is a seriously good porter. Nice job Papago! ChainGangGuy (2613), Kennesaw, Georgia, USA
| 3.8 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 15/20 | Jun 15, 2008 Appearance: Pours a black body with a small, dark brown head.
Smell: Aroma smelling of roasted barley, chocolate, cold coffee, caramel, and the unmistakable scent of buttery diacetyl.
Taste: Roasted barley topped with cocoa powder and a few pats of unsalted butter. Charred sugars still manage to lend a little sweetness. Some caramel kicks in and, with the diacetyl, gives it a slight butterscotch taste to it. Dash of coffee. Roasty bitterness. Chocolatey, roasted finish.
Mouthfeel: A hair above medium-bodied. Medium carbonation.
Drinkability: Still tasty even though it’s riddled with diacetyl, but, then again, aren’t we all?
