CaptainCougar (4599), Rockville, Maryland, USA May 10, 2008 Growler thanks to Bockyhorsey: Pours anboily opaque with a thin ring of wispy-lacing dark tan head. Aroma of sweet caramel and roasted malts with some butterscotchy diacetyl. Body starts with decent fullness and sweet dark caramel malts with some slick diacetyl notes before a bittersweet roasty dark chocolatey finish. If you take out the diacetyl, this would be a very nice imperial porter.
ChainGangGuy (1444), Kennesaw, Georgia, USA Jun 15, 2008 Appearance: Pours a black body with a small, dark brown head.
Smell: Aroma smelling of roasted barley, chocolate, cold coffee, caramel, and the unmistakable scent of buttery diacetyl.
Taste: Roasted barley topped with cocoa powder and a few pats of unsalted butter. Charred sugars still manage to lend a little sweetness. Some caramel kicks in and, with the diacetyl, gives it a slight butterscotch taste to it. Dash of coffee. Roasty bitterness. Chocolatey, roasted finish.
Mouthfeel: A hair above medium-bodied. Medium carbonation.
Drinkability: Still tasty even though it’s riddled with diacetyl, but, then again, aren’t we all? Shag (1750), Chattanooga, Tennessee, USA May 18, 2008 I finally get another Arizona rating beside Cave Creek Chili Beer. A dark black appearance with a moderate tan head. The aroma contains some coffee, chocolate, whipped cream, and artifical creamer. The flavor is very silky with some german chocolate, whipped cream, and chocolate. A slight buttery mouthfeel. If you dont like hint of diacetyl you might not dig this, but I do! kp (6000), Woodstock, Georgia, USA May 11, 2008 Updated: May 23, 2008Name: El Robusto Porter
