BOLTZ7555 (447), Phoenix, Arizona, USA Feb 16, 2008 Sampled at the AZ Strong Beer Festival: Extremely bitter brew on every level...missing the depth of flavors other DIPA’s possess. The pine/grapefruit stick in the back of the throat and aren’t counter-balanced. bikesandbeers (419), San Diego, California, USA Feb 6, 2008 sampled on tap at the San Diego Strong Ale Festival Nov 2008, an event shared with what seemed liked hundreds of ratebeerians and enjoyed mostly through a straw, since my face was a bloody mess of scabs and stitches. hazy golden, citrus hop aroma. very hoppy flavor, bitter finish. Skyview (2800), Papoose Jct., Minnesota, USA Dec 11, 2007 On draught at the Papago Brewing Company tavern in Phoenix, AZ. Pours a semi-hazy orange amber brew with a creamy off-white head that has some excellent retention and sticky lacing. Aroma of orange and grapefruit zest, some caramel malt and plenty of sweet citrus flavors. Taste is medium bodied, light carbonation with a double IPA character of sweet grapefruit/orange zest and a touch of grassy hops. Finish is semi-sweet, quite bitter that linger around after the finish. riversideAK (1569), Shoreline, Washington, USA Dec 8, 2007 2007 PP SAF. Mild grainy sweet aroma. Flavor is nice earthy bitterness backed by an odd sweetness. Finishes slightly crisp and grassy. Interesting take on an IIPA. tomhenderson (107), Carolinas area, USA Nov 18, 2007 On tap at brewery 11-12-07. Huge head dissipates slowly. Aroma is light but has some malt and a bit of orange. Taste is primarily balanced more toward spicy malt (a bit of rye?). Overall a bit light in body for a double IPA but still very nice.
