| 3.3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 13/20 | Aug 18, 2004 Earthy sweetness is dampened by the cold serving temperature, but manages to peer through nicely eventually…Aroma lacks distinction to be more than agreeable…Suave toffeeish malts are shy at first but thankfully then become talkative…Lactic intrusions smoothen the tobacco notes but fail to create more interest… unclebleen (620), California, USA
| 4.1 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 17/20 | Apr 19, 2004 This wonderful beer pours a dark ruby color with a big off-white head. A ring of head sticks around for the entire beer that laces quite well. Aroma is mainly malt with some smoke notes coming through. Flavor is malt, some light hops and a subtle smoke note. The finish is quite dry but works very well with this beer. A very enjoyable beer. bigbeersrule (58), USA

| 3.3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 3/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 15/20 | Jan 28, 2004 It tasted like a grilled hot dog with ketchup-not necessarily a bad thing. Nice, dark color. Mild smokey taste and smell. Brodie (540), Blowing Rock, North Carolina, USA
| 3.9 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 17/20 | Jan 28, 2004 Aroma is quite malty, nice caramel notes and a slight woody smokiness. Clear red/brown/amber color, head vanished quickly. Flavor is is cleanly malty; woody smokiness is prominent, but does not overpower the malt. Overall, the smoke and malt aspects compliment each other well. Full-bodied, very smooth. I can say with confidence this is the best American interpretation of a smokey Wee-Heavy I've had. The balance of malt and smoke in this beer is superb. Gusler (2655), Tucson, Arizona, USA
| 4.2 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 9/10 | 4/5 | 17/20 | Jan 25, 2004 Draught @ Papago Brewing:
A new creation by Papago Brewing Co., and Ron the "Master Brewer”, the beer is actually brewed at Sonora, and served on tap at Papago, my most favorite "Watering Hole".
The color a deep translucent brown with a majestic light tan head that is semi-creamy, as it ever so slowly dissipates, the lace forms a tight and sticky sheet to conceal the glass. Nose is sweet malt, caramel, and a "Wee Bit Of Smoke", light peat tone also notices, crisp and oh so fresh from the tap, start is scrumptiously sweet, delightful malt profile, and the top middling in its feel to the palate. Finish is delectable in its acidity, the hops powerful but not overly so, just pleasantly spicy and the hint of smoke adds much to the flavor of this beer, quite dry aftertaste and a word of caution, you don't get the slightest hint of the 7.2 percent ABV, which just might sneak up on you after your third mug or so, and I know from practical experience. So if your in the neighborhood, stop in a try a "Wee Smokey" and give yourself a treat, thanks Ron, another Scottish Ale on my list, and a new favorite beer at Papago.
