Commercial Description:
Pardál Světlé Výčepní Pivo 9.7°
Traditionally, the strength and beauty of the Czech brewing industry lay in the wide variety and uniqueness of its product range. Budweiser Budvar, N.C. decided to go against this trend and enrich the Czech beer culture with a beer of a new, original flavour particularly suitable for the typical Czech beer consumers. Therefore the brewery invited the real consumers, i.e. those who are fond of beer and have experience in its consumption, to take part in developing it. For several months, the aroma, colour and flavour were being tuned in the brewery. Combining traditional brewing skills with the experience of Budweiser Budvar’s brewers and challenging ideas of many beer connoisseurs resulted in the creating of the present Czech beer idol – “Pardál” beer, the perfect beer for sharp and full bitter flavoured beer lovers. The true beer for groups of friends who can label it : “It’s one of us!”

Bottle green, 500 ml, 9.7 P
Appearance: Pours very pleasant deep and shiny, essential golden body colour, carbonation of the body is medium, head is foamy to frothy, initially madium but quite quickly decreasing to small, there are some traces of lacing, head is white in colour.
Aroma: Sharp bitter aroma of hops, very clean with hints of chalk, some notes of juicy sweet grainy malted barley, similar to many good and tasty Bohemian Pilseners, notes of graphite.
Flavour: Very nice, refreshing, clean, crispy, notes of graphite and chalk, cardboard, nice mild and pronounced barley grains, focused and nice bitterness from hops on palate and herbal, clean aroma in nose, very well balanced and focused flavour expressing good quality ingredients. Finish duration is medium.
Palate: Body is light and soft, easy going, refreshing, texture is wattery, carbonation on palate is soft to medium, finish feel is moderate bitter, metalic, clean.

Bottled, 500ml, pasteurised from Tesco, Plzen. Gold, carbonated white head. Working my way through the lagers brought back from my shopping trip to Tesco’s in Plzen, and some of them are not very good. This is thin, vanilla, buttery some boiled notes. Maybe some sharpness on the close fighting its way through, but mostly just poor.

Bottled (BB 11/2008)
Golden color, small white head, some lace. Some Saaz hops in the nose otherwise quite neutral: light buttery and papery notes. Quite watery (well, 3.8 % = no suprises). Lacks most flavors. Light hoppyness with weak buttery notes. Watered down bulk class pils.

Pirs clear golden with a medium, frothy/creamy white head. Aroma has some grass, citrus and sweet brewing cereal. Medium carbonation, okay mouthfeel. Flavour is mild, quite sweet with limited bitterness (citric and grassy). Okay as a thirst quencher.

500ml bottle - about 20p from Prague Tesco. Svetle means pale and Vycepni means standard or low strength - it applies to beers under 5% abv. This is a typical bottled Czech lager - there’s a damp straw malt flavour and a smudgy hop finish. It tastes a little dirty, though in a positive way. Carbonation is forced and crisp. This is a very drinkable and refreshing lager to have for breakfast. It pulls well at only 3.8%.

bottle. Clear golden yellow, large white head. Hoppy nose. Light bodied but quite full of flavour. Malty, pleasantly hoppy with a tiny touch of caramel and roasted malt. Dry finish. I wouldn’t call it cesky pivni ideal but it really is good.

Bottle: Golden coloured with a small and stable white head, cllean, delicate sweet pale-malty nose, underpinned by mild aromatic hops; light to moderate sweet-bitter flavour, light bodied, not watery; short , mild sweet malty finish with a illusion of Saaz. A light, but decent Bohemian Pilsener with an odd name (pardál = panther)...........
