SilkTork (3793), Rochester, Kent, England May 14, 2008 500ml bottle - about 20p from Prague Tesco. Svetle means pale and Vycepni means standard or low strength - it applies to beers under 5% abv. This is a typical bottled Czech lager - there’s a damp straw malt flavour and a smudgy hop finish. It tastes a little dirty, though in a positive way. Carbonation is forced and crisp. This is a very drinkable and refreshing lager to have for breakfast. It pulls well at only 3.8%.

Pirs clear golden with a medium, frothy/creamy white head. Aroma has some grass, citrus and sweet brewing cereal. Medium carbonation, okay mouthfeel. Flavour is mild, quite sweet with limited bitterness (citric and grassy). Okay as a thirst quencher.

Rerate (50 cl bottle bought at Tesco in Plzen) Sampled on the train between Plzen and Praha on June 30, 2008 BB 15.12.2008 Clear golden color, white head. Sweet malty and a bit cheeze scent. Malty and herbal bitter taste. Moussy mouthfeel, low to medium bitterness. Lingering hop bitterness in the aftertaste. 4/3/5/2/9=2.3 Quack-Duck (1609), Bodensee, Germany Feb 2, 2008 bottle. Clear golden yellow, large white head. Hoppy nose. Light bodied but quite full of flavour. Malty, pleasantly hoppy with a tiny touch of caramel and roasted malt. Dry finish. I wouldn’t call it cesky pivni ideal but it really is good. pivnizub (3600), Porúří, Germany Jan 2, 2008 Bottle: Golden coloured with a small and stable white head, cllean, delicate sweet pale-malty nose, underpinned by mild aromatic hops; light to moderate sweet-bitter flavour, light bodied, not watery; short , mild sweet malty finish with a illusion of Saaz. A light, but decent Bohemian Pilsener with an odd name (pardál = panther)...........
