Commercial Description:
A rich and creamy brew, deep brown to black in color, with a delicious, full-bodied chocolate-like malt flavor and a smooth, lingering finish. A modern revival of centuries-old style of dark ale. Piedmont porter is crafted with our special blend of roasted, caramelized, and pale malts, balanced with traditional "Goldings" hops.

This is almost a perfectly balanced porter if that is possible. Flavors are really upfront on the first taste, giving away everything it has to offer and not saving anything for later. Lots of malty chocolate/carob hints with some coffee roastiness that give it a nice mellow creaminess and a luscious velvety feel in the mouth. A must try.

On cask at the 1/27/07 Atlanta Cask Ale Tasting listed as Robust Porter: Pours a barely transparent dark mahogany with an airy coating of dark tan bubbles. Aroma of lightly sweet earthy malt with a touch of dark chocolate. Body starts fairly sweet and caramely malty with a touch of black cherries before a toasty dark malty finish. A nice porter.

Cask Ale tasting at Sweetwater. Very nice porter with great malty taste and finishing "snick" of bitterness. I would have this one again

Appearance: Near black body with reddish edges and capped by a small, off-white head. Smell: Mild aroma of unsweetened chocolate and sweaty dark grains. Taste: Dark malts with some hints of semi-sweet chocolate. Herbal hops. Earthy bitterness at the tailend. Mouthfeel: Medium-bodied. Mild carbonation. Creamy mouthfeel. Drinkability: Well, I’m sold. A decent porter.

Atlanta Cask Ale tasting at Sweetwater. Aroma of chocolate. Taste is very malty with plenty of chocolate. Finish is bitter. Mouthfeel is nice and creamy. Good roastey porter.

On tap at the brewpub for lawschool prom. Nice color and head. Cocoa aroma and roasted coffee malt flavors. Pretty decent porter with a lot more flavor than many I have had recently. A little overpowering with the roasted malt but decent drink nonetheless.

Fresh batch just tapped. The rating is of the second sample, as the first one was poured into an appropriate but soapy tasting glass. Choclate and coffee nose. Dark brown with soapy mocha head and good lacing. Better as warmed to room temperature from the cellar. A lively carbonation. Creamy bove-average mouthfeel. A bit like an imperial porter.

Best beer by far from these guys. Deep brown color with good head. Chocolate malt flavor and it stayed with me. Nice caramel hint as well. Good beer not the best porter but a good one.
