Malty and soft with a gigantic head. But less fresh, fruity and citrusy than the typical Hefeweizen. 190100 MoritzF (5029), Bochum, Germany

| 3.6 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 15/20 | May 9, 2005 1 pt. .9 fl oz bottle - Albertsons, Baton Rouge, La. Pours a murky, medium golden with a tight white head, decent lacing. Sweet aroma of banana, cloves and molasses. Flavor has some candied sugar notes, bubble gum, maple syrup with a back end of banana. Some yeasty, bready notes in there as well. Mouthfeel is thick and somewhat sticky. Very decent, one of those I thought I had always had but for some reason the bottle just looked different to me here in Baton Rouge.

| 3.8 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 16/20 | Mar 16, 2005 Brought by a friend from Germany instead of the Salvator I ordered. I guess I got a better deal. What suprised me about this one is how similar it looked to a regular hefe. Same unfiltered apricot colour, maybe a bit darker hue. Anyway, strong banana aroma, big, rapidly disappearing white head. Sweet taste, bananas, a touch of lemon, and very, very lightly roasty. Not sure if it’s better than my favorite (Franziskaner Hefe), but it’s close.
