Beautiful golden body, thick foamy white head, so well presented in its own glass, this is an automatic 5. Yeast, banana in aroma - subtle, soft. Great taste - soft malt/wheat base, some clove and banana - nicely balanced. Lots of clove in the finish. Mouthfeel is just terrific - soft yet actively carbonated. A really nice beer - like a refreshing easy to drink lower alcohol version of a Aventinus with the balance a little more tipped toward the wheat side of things. | 3.4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 4/5 | 6/10 | 4/5 | 14/20 | Jun 24, 2008 Pours hazy brown with ample white head that dissipates gradually. Mild malty estery (banana) aroma. Flavour of sweet malt, banana, woody clove. Very good , tasty and refreshing, but I prefer its light brother Paulaner Hefeweizen. | 3.2 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 13/20 | Jun 18, 2008 Munich import back home. Mahogany pour with muddy orange edges against the light and a collapsing collar of froth. Conditioning not the greatest for a hefe- head dissipates completely within swigs. Estery banana, clove and apple strudel aroma ripe with yeastiness, bubblegum and fruit. A dab of sweet cherry or plum/stone fruit, followed by watery red apple, the ubiquitous banana, woodsy spice and pepper. Underwhelming beyond the nose- the aroma suggests a bolder esteriness that doesn’t really emerge. Was looking forward to this, and it’s a bit of an anticlimax. Still a pretty tasty beer, mind… Defreni (1048), Frederiksberg, Denmark
| 3.4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 14/20 | Jun 1, 2008 Flaske.
| 3.3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 12/20 | May 31, 2008 0,5l bottle. Opaque brown. There’s a lot of wheat in the aroma and the same follows in the flavor. The flavor is a bit surprising since it doesn’t really taste as dark as it looks. As a friend of hefeweissbier I liked it. | 3.2 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 2/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 13/20 | May 28, 2008 Nice aroma indeed, smells a bit belgian, add some egg and suger. hard to describe, but smells real good. muddy brown with small off-white foam, small bubbles. nice flavor, but a bit on the dull side. i can taste a little alc. which is a drawdown, not as refreshing as i had hoped for. Still a good beer. way above average. bit above average palate. borisz (194), Netherlands

| 2.6 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 4/10 | 5/5 | 4/10 | 2/5 | 11/20 | May 21, 2008 Murky oxide hue under a voluminous tan sponge. Grape and cherry bubble gum collides with oily rye and caraway. Soft acids and whole wheat cookies faint into a leafy finish. Light, watery with a chalky texture; carbonation is brisk.
Shy acidity and malts leave me wanting.
50cl bottle, best before 10.2008.
