douglas88 (1557), Salt Lake City, Utah, USA Nov 3, 2007 Bottle. Pours a cloudy orange with a strong white head. The taste is yeast, banana, some citrus and a light hop. The body is what makes it really nice; it’s thicker than other Hefes and quite good. A good drink overall. mhelgason (495), Charlotte, North Carolina, USA Nov 3, 2007 bottle. long lasting huge foamy off-white head. sparkling hazy orange body. aromas of yeast, caramel, light hops, noticed very light alcohol notes. flavor is sweet into light bitterness with long finish duration. good hefe. NachlamSie (1631), Tennessee, USA Nov 2, 2007 Bottle. Pours a cloudy golden hue with a nice white head. The aroma has more hints of apples and caramel than I usually expect from the style. Clove and banana are present as well, but hide behind some of the maltier scents. The flavor is mildly sweet without much dryness. I get hints of apples, honey, cloves, garlic butter, and banana. This is all right. It’s an easy drinker and great for a session, but lacks the more extensive depth and complexity that can be found in the finest of hefeweizens. latneyblunk (40), Kentucky, USA Nov 1, 2007 Smells of clove and nice wheat aromas. Pours cloudy orange/yellow with the yeast suspended. Tastes of wonderful spicy wheat and a little butter flavor from the malt which is nice. Finishes suprisingly clean after all the complexity. A brilliant example of a weizen that should serve as a control for rating other Hefe-Weizens. yarry (370), Waterdown, Ontario, Canada Oct 31, 2007 330ml bottle, 5.5% a/v
Pours orange gold colour, almost like light orange juice, and almost as cloudy. Thin slightly offwhite head. Nose is bananas, spice, and yeast. The taste is spectacularly complex, clove, nutmeg and floral fruit with a nice banana finish. Very good beer, just finished my 6 pack, gonna go buy another! kempicus (350), Wellington, New Zealand Oct 28, 2007 Had this in a Paulaner pub in Munich, it was everything i’d hoped it would be, good body with clove and buttery flavours but surprisingly clean in the finish blastoff (21), Alabama, USA Oct 28, 2007 I bought this on a whim more than anything else and was pleasantly surprised. Have had it on tap and from the bottle, both excellent. Was served with an orange when on tap. Had no preconceived notions prior to having it and came away impressed. If you like wheat bears, this is worth the try. Beershine (2678), Hue, Vietnam Oct 27, 2007 Pours dark gold and hazy. The ample, excited head left me little lacing. Smell is predominantly rotten apple and yeast. Taste includes orange cream, overripe banana, and anise at the end, but remains relatively dry in spite of it all. Airy mouthfeel as if the beer evaporates on the tongue. Low amount of stickiness, which can be a problem in weissbier. It is a solid one but from the bottle lacks the depth of character it might have in Munchen.
