Banana is particularly strong, some cloves, and a bit of citrus. Light hops and wheat. Cloudy (unfilt.) golden dark amber with creamy, off-white lacing head. Palate is ligh-medium watery with gentle carbonation. Starts sweet with wheat and banana, citrus. Light acidity kicks in for a weaker sweet finish. After is bready and a bit sweet, with a pleasant level of acidity and low bitterness. Fruity. Bockyhorsey (2552), Mesa, Arizona, USA

| 3.5 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 13/20 | Sep 5, 2003 Hazy golden colour with a great thick white head. Smells of lemon, yeast, coriander seed and curacao (orange peel) all are elements of the smell. The taste is very mild, a bit of the freshness (curacao & coriander) is noticeable along with some yeastie & wheatieness. Aftertaste subtle as well showcasing a bit of the better flavours roaming around with this beer. Overall, a better than average German Wheat, and even though I had this just after turning 21, I hadn't had it since...so at a bar with about 125 taps, I picked this piece of crap...and it turned out to be alright! Try this if you like wheats, as it is most likely available and very pleasing! I got a 23 ounce glass of this on tap at MacGregor's in Rochester, New York. GregClow (2500), Toronto, Ontario, Canada

Hard to believe I’ve never gotten around to rating this one. Hazy golden-orange with a ridiculously large white head. Big hefe aroma with a nice citrus edge. Full bodied with a creamy middle and a crisp finish. Flavour is bang-on for the style. Finish is a bit sweeter than some, but still, this is a great example that I enjoyed immensely. Pours with a frothy, three-finger thick, light tan colored head that sits atop an opaquely hazy, orangish gold colored beer. Lots of wheat & malt aromas are apparent as are some of the characteristic yeast notes; Aromas of clove, lemon zest, fresh crushed wheat, at times notes of bananas, sweet grain notes and some yeasty / bready aromatics. This beer has a nice level of yeast-driven phenolics & esters to it. Quite a nice nose to this brew really.
The taste has a sweetness that seems more driven by notes of clove & banana esters than by the grain sweetness; the wheat and barley malts do contribute some sweetness though. The carbonation provides a sharp bite to this brew, which, along with the light tartness & touch of hop bitterness, provide balance to the sweeter notes of this brew. There is a certain spiciness here that is most definitely yeast derived, but also brought on by the zesty carbonation / carbonic acid; hints of white pepper, lemon zest and maybe even a hint of wisp ginger. This is a really nice Hefe, one which I always enjoy having
