Strong but smooth taste that made me beg for another. First sampled this at Octoberfest and occasionally find a bar with it as well. Great flavor for a great bear, another one that is good warm as well. Lubiere (4528), Ottawa, Ontario, Canada

In mouth, good malt with light german hops, definite signs of oxydation, cloying sweetness and chalky final. Bottle is one year old. BB 08/07 BeerFanDan17 (621), Land O Lakes, Florida, USA

As I recall, this was a classic and tasty marzen. SaintMatty (1231), Tallinn, Estonia

The aroma is malty, yeasty and has a hint of banana and grapefruit. The taste has a pleasant zing and a mild hoppiness with grapefruit featuring again. Not bad for a beer of this type. kappldav123 (1846), Markkleeberg, Germany

Taste has yeast and grainy malt, very restrained and slightly creamy. Slight bitterness. I’m struggling to find bad (or good) things to say about this beer. Tomorrow I will have forgotten it. islay (476), Minneapolis, Minnesota, USA
| 2 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 5/10 | 3/5 | 3/10 | 2/5 | 7/20 | Apr 26, 2008 12 oz. bottle, 2007 vintage, labeled "Paulaner Oktoberfest Marzen." Toasty malt aroma features caramel and mineral water scents. The smell is simple but not unpleasant. Pours a clear, effervescent, pale sable. Moderate amount of beige head. Produces some lacing. Caramel malt sweetness with a touch of hops in the taste. Becomes cloyingly sweet upon multiple sips. Mineral, bordering on metal flavors. Pitted fruit and raisin in the finish. Forgettable at first, but soon it becomes almost gross. Light, mineral aftertaste. Light body. Fizzy and soft in the palate with some liveliness. Numbs the tongue. This is an uninspired example of an uninspired style. The bottle was free to me, but it still wasn’t worth the cost. This is not a good beer, and I don’t know how folks can stomach this stuff en masse in the fall.
