Mid brown, brief head. Sweet caramel, and slight nuttiness. Nothing particularly special, but I enjoyed it.

(6/18/08) Draught at Paulaner’s im Spreebogen in Berlin. Dark brown but transparent when put in front of a light, with a medium beige creamy head. Aroma of toasted malt and some caramel notes. Sweetish malty flavor with some toastiness and some caramel. Medium-bodied. Not a great Dunkel but still nice.

On tap at the Munich brewpub. Clear golden brown with a tan head. Sweet and seriously malty, a surprising beer. Lightly nutty with a mildly bitter finish. Solid.

Bottle. Quite malty and sweet. Small brown fizzy head, fast and fully diminishing; dark red body. Light bitter taste, then it gets a little bit sweeter. Watery texture, light body, flat carbonation.

Big beige head subsides slowly. Dark red barely translucent body with carbonation. Clean malty fruity aroma with papery wild berry notes and light roasty licorice. Harmonic and nice, but a bit faint. Sweet-dry earthy licorice taste with papery wild berry notes and a slightly perfumy character. Mouthfeel is clean, soft, and smooth. Mid-to-full body. Dry roasty licorice aftertaste with peppery wild berry notes. Very nice! (0.5l bottle, Rewe supermarket, München.)
